Performance issues

I have a laptop with a Ryzen 5 5600u and an RTX 3050 40w (Acer Swift SFX14-41G), and with the lowest graphics (besides the lighting on medium) along with fsr 1.0 at 60% resolution I struggle to keep 100fps during gameplay. I don’t have anything else open besides discord. I have it connected to a 100hz monitor but it connects to the apu rather than the gpu. I see many performance benchmarks online and they all have much higher fps on Overwatch during gameplay while also recording despite having much older hardware. Is this normal for my laptop or something?

Your performance sounds about right to me, especially considering you’re running the laptop models of the CPU and GPU, so you can’t compare them to the desktop versions. They’re going to perform slightly under those.

Try disconnecting the external monitor and test the performance with just the built-in laptop display.

If your laptop is using the APU for rendering the game on an external monitor then you will definitely have lower performance than if it was using the Nvidia RTX GPU.

There may be a setting in Windows to change the behavior of the GPU when an external monitor is connected. You should check your laptop’s documentation or contact the laptop support to see if they can help, if you want to continue using the external monitor for gaming.
