In light of the many reports of players claiming they are unable to rank up despite a positive win rate, I hypothesize that personal performance is now just as (if not more) important as the outcome of the game. What this means is that i’s possible to derank with a positive WR and rank up with a negative WR depending on your stats.
I thought it would be useful trying to establish whether this is true or false with the aim to shed some light on the confusion and frustration many have been experiencing. As someone who has ranked up after going 7-10, I will offer my stats as a baseline for people to compare their own stats to.
If you are a player who has been unable to climb and your stats are close or higher than mine over a sufficient amount of games played, we can conclude that the above hypothesis, i.e. personal performance is as important as the game’s outcome, is wrong and that something may be wrong with the system. If, on the other hand, we find that the stats of those same players are significantly lower than mine, we can conclude that the system is now heavily based on personal performance.
Now you may think “hold on, the stats of a GM are obviously gonna be higher than those of a Bronze player’s. This doesn’t make any sense!!”. The way it works is that the average stats of an accurately placed GM is roughly the same as that of an accurately placed Bronze. Your or my rank is largely irrelevant. What matters is that we know that my sets of stats has me climbing despite a local negative WR. So given the hypothesis is right, we can infer that my stats are slightly above average. From this then follows that if your stats are similar to mine, you should also be climbing no matter where you are located on the ladder.
With that out the way, the stats I will write out below are from my most played hero, Soldier 76. Ideally, we wanna compare them to other Soldier stats. So if you are a Soldier main stuck with a positive win rate, now is your time to shine and proof that the system is broken. The stats provided by me should also provide somewhat of a baseline for other DPS as well as tanks. Although individual stats should slightly vary depending on the hero of course. For instance, the final blow of a Widow should be higher and damage per 10 minutes should be lower than that of a Soldier, the K/D of a tank should be higher, etc.
Other people who have climbed after going negative are also welcome to post their stats so we have a broader set of stats players unable to rank up can compare their stats to. Finally, here are my stats (proof: https ://imgur. com/a/06aJKQH):
