I realize statues won’t look exactly like the prototype, I’ve been collecting polystones for years now and I’m used to it, that’s why when I first got the statue I kinda shrugged off the poor paint job on the face and haven’t thought much about it this past year. The Tracer statue for instance suffers from similar problems with the eyes, and Blizzard even had to do a new second run to fix problems with the original release’s poor face build:
(even with the fixes Tracer’s eyes are still oddly off, but it’s acceptable)
Obviously color depends on lighting (I mean that’s how we perceive color right, by how wavelengths of light reflect off material and enter our eyes, e.g. the color of a tree during the day will be say reddish at sunset or bluish by moonlight). I’m just saying that the color disparity is noticeably big in parts like her eyeshadow and lipstick, which are about the same tone as her skin in the prototype but clearly significantly contrast at darker shades in the actual statue, a salient disparity that can be perceived independent of any light correction. After a conversation brought it up I decided to ask purely out of curiosity if other owners noticed or experienced this same issue, as it might have been a defect specific to my statue that might be worth addressing. I’m getting differing answers so it seems that some people may have lucked out while most others didn’t.
One thing I agree with you on, though, my photo doesn’t do the statue justice and it looks better in person. And thanks for bringing your expertise and insight into the thread. Overall I’d say it’s still a really good statue, just some quibbling issues.
