Dude I have had enough of playing quick play. I’ve been playing since 2016. I’m a dedicated fan to this game and I’m casual in a sense that I don’t play competitive much, just the other modes. Recently in QP, nearly EVERY GAME has ppl playing ridiculously incompetent and spamming “I need healing”, and then when I call it out, they said “it’s QP I’m having fun”. Like what? Why is this not being punished? Just because your actions don’t directly affect my rank doesn’t mean you should be allowed to throw games period.
These are the same players who whined about having leavers every game so now the penaltys force you to babysit and carry the thrower instead of just leaving for a game where people actually do the bare minimum to try and win.
Bet you most people who praise the qp leaver penalties were far more responsible for always having leavers than they care to admit. generally by being awful team mates or toxic Sombra mains
100% QP has just become a place for people to go to troll and throw games for entertainment and its been normalised by players.
Theres 0 reason you shouldnt be able to go to QP for a good quality game and not have every other game thrown by someone who tries to protect themselves with its qp
Well said. 100% agreed.
There is a difference between throwing/trolling and learning a new hero or just not playing your best. “It’s QP” should not be used an excuse for the former and as someone else mentioned, it is directly their fault for having leavers becoming an issue because nobody who has a positive integer IQ thinks it’s fun to go 4v5 because their Rein decides to charge off a cliff for “fun”.
As usual, Blizzard decides to cater to trolls, cheaters and smurfs by punishing the legit majority in order to avoid vocal minority backlash.
Yup, i would like to lewrn Doom for example but if i go into QP and die off CD, im not learning all im doing is throwing ghe game for my team.
Agreed
Okay, but how do you intend to learn Doomfist if you never play him? Genuinely curious.
I dont really have the time to properly learn him but if i was i would spend considerable time in custom games and VS AI first before then moving in QP and when in QP i would stil swap when focused to much untill ot not getting enough value until ive gotten better.
i would just report then. i don’t care if you not gonna play and wanna have “fun” go to arcade.
the reason is simple, they started adding the ban system in QP and you can’t leave. so
QP should be played seriously
“It’s QP” is valid for playing a non-optimal hero. A character you might not know how to play well yet. It’s not for being a “Damage boost only” Mercy, or a Hammer Only Torb.
Being “Just QP” is no reason to throw games. Just to know not everyone will be super sweaty.
Sure but if it gets to the point you’re actively putting the team at a disadvantage, youre sabotaging the game.
Not really. Sabotage isn’t “playing the wrong hero”. If I know how to play Soldier, but I’ve never played Pharah, there will NEVER be a time where playing Pharah over Soldier isn’t ‘non-optimal’. So players need to be allowed to play heroes they might not be good with to be able to learn to do it correctly. Quick Play is the spot for that.
Its not as black and white as you all seem to make it, its not singley sbout “playing the wrong hero” its that youre objectively with your choices making the game harder for your team and actively putting your team at a disadvantage. That is gameplay sabotage.
Sure it is to a certain extent but after a certain point youre not learning anything except the quickest route back from spawn, youre just throwing the game for your team.
I definitely agree there’s a time to swap. You’re right about that. If I’m wanting to learn Doomfist, but running into Ana, Orisa, Junkrat and eating every sleep, spear, trap and spending more time dead than alive. I probably should be deciding “This round isn’t the right one for this.” Is it sabotage? No. But it definitely isn’t the right time to figure out how they work. I just mean that non-optimal heroes DO need to be allowed unless you want everyone to be a one trick.
It is though if they continue.
I agree with this.
No they’re not. People who complained about leavers are the people who actually want to play.
Like the op.
I’d guess that half the people who wanted and appreciate the leaver penalties were just tired of people leaving half a minute into the match and watching 10 backfills leave immediately upon joining.
The original 4 leaves before penalty was a pretty ideal situation.
But having a 2 minute penalty on 2 leaves and 5 on 4 leaves isn’t too bad if you truly want to leave matches.
No, the leaver penalty is for potato players who soft throw every game whining they don’t get hard carried because noone wants to play with them. Before they added the penalties I seldom had issues with leavers and I’ve talked to other players on the subject with similar experience.
The leaver penalty exists so you’re forced to carry bad players who shouldn’t have been matched with you because blizzard would rather force you to stay in a bad game then fix there matchmaking.
Also people who backfilled my games stayed, if you have the backfills constantly leaving it’s likely cause one or two players on your team have a reputation for being trash team mates who aren’t fun to play with. The experience you describe makes me think you are a doom, widow, or Sombra one trick
I mean am I trolling for deliverately playing my worst heroes?
is it throwing trying to only ply my worst hero thats fully counterd and useless against the enemy team? knowing full well my main would do much better?
Nah I wanna play hanzo.
you have 300 dmg in 5min
yeah i am learning.
you have 70% winrate on tracer! swap!
no I am learning hanzo. have fun.
i am 1-17 btw
not throwing, learning.
(i consider this throwing but nobody will punish me)
if rank drops to much i can play a few round tracer to prevent dropping to far.
and back to hanzo for 6 games with 0 % winrate
Vs ai is right next door and I wish blizzard would lock certain heros behind winning X games as that hero in vs ai.for this exact reason.
i have over 300h on hanzo, enough to go beyond any restrictions.
doesn’t mean i am any good.
need to practise in comp. not PvE lol.
also not hard to miss on accident.
Well if you are playing that poorly I think you deserve to have leavers in your games tbh. Like you’re not practicing anything if your teams getting spawn camped because one player isn’t contributing and is too stubborn to admit to themselves when learning how to win is more important than learning how to die 5 more times as a hero they clearly need some AI, or custom game practice on first.
There’s practice and then there’s selfishly putting your experience over the four others forced to stay with you on a losing game because you stick to a losing strategy.
