There was trouble balancing the game and now we have more variants with perks.
I like raw heroes, most of the perks change how skills behave so I rather not use them. They are small buffs but not game changers (maybe perks more broken than others like Ana’s double nano boost).
Every match I have people on my team complaining about me not choosing perks, I just don’t want them! But now they report your for not choosing them and ask other people in general chat to report you as well. I’m diamond 3, and my rank didn’t change after releasing perks.
Perks are fun, I use them on quick play sometimes, but I think there is no place for them on ranked. They add one layer more of balancing… man just give us ranked 6v6 already!

If people report you for not using perks, report them for false reporting. They’re being morons. Don’t forget to put them on avoid so you never had the garbage on your team again.
I mean yes perks are now part of the game play, but some of the perks are simply not worth using at all (looking at you Sombra). If someone put in match chat they wanted me to report an enemy player for not using perks, I’d report them in an instant for inappropriate communication.
This is debatable. It´s very close to the area of “reporting people for not using their ability” - it could be considered as feeding.
Tho I would personaly wait with this. Season just started, many people don´t even know, what it is yet.
Thing is I’ve played a few hero’s tonight (IE Sombra) and the perks really are terrble and just not worth using at all, so I just focus on doing what I’ve always done without them. Not the best example to use I grant you due to her state overall, but just a small example of why some are just not worth using.
But I suppose it could end up being one of those grey area situations in the end, depending on the situation overall and in which game mode.
I mostly have expirience with support perks yet and let me tell you: LW getting cleanse for his grip, Ana getting double nano, Mercy being able to pocket two characters at once - pretty game changer for me. Tho I will never report anyone for this, cause I play QP and I think it´s not that serious there using perks, but I would not be surprised that for comp this could be a deal breaker.
Ah-this is something I should have made clear, I’ve been playing QP, my mistake.
But yeah I can see this being different in comp in hindsight.

But OP is talking about comp - that´s why my first reaction.
Sigh. Time for some glasses I guess…it appears I can’t read properly…
But you did make a good point above about it being early in the lifecycle of perks, and many people not being aware etc.

This sentence made me think that xD
Im a bit on and off for this because outright perks are power, and refusing to use them is for inbreds. I dont care if you dont want them, at least pick something, you are leaving power on the table regardless.
Feel free to not pick them, but I feel like never using your ult is soft throwing, so just refusing to do anything with your perks is pretty soft throwy. You might not be trying to lose, but youre intentionally not doing everything in your power to win, so off to the account gallows you go in my opinion.
Yeah take to take you seriously when you’re an idiot. Good god…
You knowingly don’t use all the skills that the game gives you? Then you will be rightly reported and be banned.

And why aren’t you using it?
It’s funny because even the “useless” perks have some effect on gameplay.
So, by ignoring them, it makes sense that you are stuck in this loop of “they don’t do anything”. You aren’t trying to do anything with them.
Like “I have these new things to use, everyone else is using them. I’m not using them, why is everyone mad? Game feels the same” lmao
Oh don’t be stupid. There’s more important things to be banned over-this is not one of them.
They have more important things to be banning people over right now. If further down the line once they’ve been out a while, and we know they’re full impact and if they’re not being used in ranked (in the future-they’ve barely been out a while) then ok some form of punishment. But banning people NOW is just way over the top

If refusing to use certain tools, abilities or ults available is reportable then so is not using perks. Regardless if I have a widely unpopular opinion that they are useless or not.
Sometimes I do forget to equip them though and I will say so if I get called out for it.
That’s the thing. Someone who hasn’t been playing long at all is going to screw up when things get really chaotic and they start to panic, get reported by someone who’s tilted off the face off the earth (along with others) then banned? Nah, way too soon for that sort of punishment to be implemented when they’ve not even been out long enough.
And that’s not even taking into account the report happy brigade who just report for the hell of it.
Yea but the difference is OP could just say my bad I forgot about perks. Instead they are flat out admitting that they are purposely neglecting to use them. That is what makes it reportable.
Fair point there, but in other circs though it’s way too harsh. It’s really hard to identify when someone is doing it on purpose and not doing it on purpose.

Your argument doesn’t make sense… banning later is ok, not now? …Illogical af
By refusing to use perks youre refusing to use things that can actively help you and your team, youre puteposelt putting your team at a disadvatange, its ganeplay sabotage, its reportable.
