This has been happening to me in almost every match i play in comp,it doesnt matter if we’re winning or losing,people jusst randomly leave.I feel like there should be a bigger punishment for repeatedly leaving matches because the 75% xp penalty doesnt seem to scare people away.Is it just my luck that people keep leaving or does that happen to others?

this happens to me too people leave in the middle of my matches too and i agree that there should be a bigger punishment for leaving early to much.

Damn that’s some bad luck man. I’ll close the game and do something else then come back. The server is cursed.
Report them after the match ends (just in case it was a quick d/c). If they rage quit, feel free to report them instantly though. It’s apparent that the exp and SR penalty isn’t enough of a deterrent. Bans need to start being handed out for these leavers as they effect 11 other people.

honestly i agree,and if they want to be tame about the punishments,there should be a bigger punishment for leaving like a said,like a ban from comp for a couple days.

These reports are discarded as there is an entirely separate system that handles punishing leavers.
The devs themselves have asked people to not report leavers for this reason. It may make you feel better, but it ultimately does nothing.

I had leavers repeatedly in a row (Open Queue) 
People started leaving 10 seconds after someone left, most of the time the leaver even came back and ended up with me in a 2v6 They shouldn’t just allow players to leave after someone just lost the connection.
They do, if you leave often.
You get suspended for leaving and not coming back in time (Comp = 1 min [I thought 2 mins], Arcade comp modes = 10 sec)

Just queue all the leavers together. There are so many that their queue times would be shorter than DPS.

No they’re not. Devs have shown that they don’t even look at the reports. It’s purely about the # of reports that triggers a ban.

Lost first 2 placement matches, queued for a 3rd we get Volskaya attack. I suggest to one of our DPS to go Sym and try to tp on point to left. One of the DPS swithces to Sym. The match begins, we go out on the left, the Sym tried to put the TP but she got halted off the map by enemy Orisa. After her first death she decides that this strat is not going to work so she switches to Pharah. We had no Mercy and no shield. We are not able to push past the choke. Our former Sym decided that there was no use to play this match so she left the game and it was of course past the one minute mark so the game did not cancel so we struggled 5vs6 to push past the choke where we of course did not succeed and lost.
The thing I hate the most is, you know people will not do any strats in Gold, they will just q for the comp game, casually like it is QP, not be in voice and when you try to do any kind of strat they will try it for the first 2 secs and if they die they will immediately switch because they think “oh I died it did not work, better switch to my inital pick, should not have listened to these Gold idiots anyways, I died, if I did not listen to them I would have popped off and gotten a 6k and we would have won,now I have to leave the game because my team is trash”.
Basically for ppl in Gold it is better to do no strat than any at all if it means they might die.
There’s a cooldown. Leave 3 matches, only get suspended for about 90 minutes. Wait 1-2 days, and do it again because the gauge resets after enough games/time. The leave system is entirely abuseable.

Oh without a doubt it needs to be harsher, but cluttering the already broken report system aint it.

Im abused by leavers to oblivion, its specialy frustrating into tryhard competitive matchup.
If i play in internet caffe, and leaver is in same room with me I woud break a chair and beat him with chair trestle to ensure he never click competitive play again
