How come ranking up is soooooooo much harder on pc than on xbox?
Look I’m far from the best player in the world. My ranks on xbox are as follows…
plat 3 open queue, gold 1 tank, gold 2 supp, gold 5 dps. I was gold 3 dps, fell to silver, climbed back up to gold and went “aight im done for now”
now on pc? bronze 1 tank bronze 2 supp bronze 2 open queue bronze 3 dps.
Like what? how is there that much of a difference? I don’t feel like I’m playing any worse on pc. it doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m losing more for a loss than I’m gaining for a win too so breaking into silver feels damn near impossible. The numbers themselves are way smaller too. we’re talking losing 12% and gaining 10% on pc, whereas on xbox it’s like plus or minus 30 for a win or loss. Can anyone explain this to me? I’m at a loss
People on PC have more freedom and control of their characters than they do on console. Controller has a lot of limitations and that lowers the cap on how good someone can be.
I understand that. I just figured that, by playing on PC I’d have these advantages too and would at LEAST be roughly the same rank. People kept telling me that if I wanna push to a higher rank, I should play on pc (and it’s not like I’ve never gamed on a pc before, I just generally prefer playing on console). Seems to me that the opposite is true though and I should stick to xbox and try to get better there to push. Cause getting stuck bronze after being gold/plat feels… REALLY bad
Maybe you’re better with a controller than mouse and keyboard? Assuming you’re using a keyboard. If not, then you’re using a controller with no aim assist, so that would matter too.
no offense taken. I’m ok with being average. I’ll never be a grandmaster and I’m happy with that. I just expected to at least be similar that’s all. It feels like a slap in the face to be stuck in bronze
It’s the opposite. Your movement is very restricted with a keyboard. There’s a reason people always play movement-focused games like platformers, racing, fighting, etc with a controller. Aiming is easier with a mouse, but everything else is better on a controller.
It just takes getting used to different controls. With time, people who switch platforms normally reach the same rank. Little things like APM factor into your rank, and you’re going to be worse at that part at first since moving with a keyboard is so much less fluid than with a controller.
For other games sure, but for OW, no. How fast you can turn is part of how well you can move its not just aiming that’s better.
IMO, I think its worth it to make the switch from console to PC. The game is just better and really made for PC at the end of the day. You’ll have to work on some things though if you wanna get back to where you were before.
You can turn as quickly as a human would need to on console. And I firmly believe it’s a better game on console, especially since cheaters, most performance problems, and server issues don’t affect us. Movement and ability usage are far more important in OW than aim, and console wins both of those by miles.
Can you guys actually turn down graphics on console? Or it is a on/off for certain things?
As a controller user, I agree with most of what you’re saying. But console has some holes. It’s the price of a convenience machine.
