PC: Voice chat problem

Hi, I’ve got a specific voice chat problem - 1 in maybe 10 games I play I can speak and people tell me they can hear me (my icon pops up too when i speak) but the other 9 games I am completely unable to speak or hear what others say (and no icons showing speaking happen)

Weirdly enough, I look on the group and see a few people will have joined the chat, but i cant hear nor can I speak to them.

Is there a setting that the others in the group might have on that’s not letting me speak or is this a technical problem?

Have you completed each of these troubleshooting steps yet? These can resolve most common issues?

I’ve tried the suggestions that could be the it but it doesnt cover my specific issue. Also for all of these it assumes that voice chat had not worked before but for me it sometimes works which makes it different.

I guess my first question is is it normal for you to speak into the microphone and have no icon pop up or indication that you’re speaking? If this happens do we know theres a problem on my end? Or am i not being shown the icon because the people in the game may not be allowing voice chat or something? Its worth mentioning im referring to quick play in low leagues

You should see your own icon appearing when the game detects your voice or if you enable push-to-talk, even if you are in a game mode such as a custom game with no other active players. Also note, that anything with your system may change without your knowledge, so make sure to do any steps not yet completed.

That being said, if you are very sure you have worked through all possible steps, consider posting a DxDiag file so that we can learn more about your specific computer setup then:

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type DxDiag and press Enter.
  3. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  4. Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save.
  5. Open the file in Windows Notepad, then press Ctrl+A to select all text, then Ctrl+C to copy all text to the clipboard.
  6. Start a new reply, and type two sets of four squiggly lines and then place the cursor in between and press Ctrl+V to paste the Contents in a code block. Example:
