#pc noticing recently high temp and CPU usage

I’ve noticed today, that my cpu usage has gone up slightly, specifically when I was looking at cpu temps I noticed it has gone up to around 58-60 celcius. Its normally around 49-53 I would say when playing Overwatch. Not sure if im overthinking this but it is noticeable for me as my fans start to kick in. I also noticed on startup of the game, cpu goes into full load basically reaching 80 degrees before it calms down after like 10 seconds. It never used to do this. If anyone suggest my pc needs a clean, Ive done a full dust clean a month ago so its highly unlikely due to dust. Could it be something to do with the recent nvidia update ? As I have seen freezes also and seen other players experience this. but surely it shouldnt affect the cpu usage…any help or suggestions would be great or if anyone else is experiencing this. thanks in advance.
I built my pc just a little over a year ago. I also recently upgraded to Windows 11…could that Be a factor?
Overwatch has always ran quietly as well only until now have I got this issue.
My specs are:
CPU : Ryzen 5600x
Mobo: aorus b550i pro ax
Ram: gskillz trident 2x 8gb
GPU: Asus tuf 3 1660 super

I would say the recent GPU update is the most likely cause. But when it comes to hardware behavior changes, that’s not something volunteers or staff can address in this forum.

I highly doubt it has anything to do with Overwatch.

I’m pretty sure it has something to do with windows 11. I am on windows 10 and certain games will cause fan spool up on both the CPU and Gpu when loading in. Elden ring causes this, Metro, NFS heat, etc.

It’s not usually anything worth worrying about.

I would say have a look at your Bios revision and see if there are any newer updates. There might be bios revisions with better Windows 11/5000 series compatibility.

( had a look while typing this and there are a few AGESA bios updates for your board for 5000 series CPU’s including one that affects boost behavior as well as some windows 11 optimizations that are TPM related).

I would recommend watching tutorials on how to update bios on Aorus boards, make sure you download the bios file for your exact board and make sure you don’t switch off the PC during the update.

Yeah Im having same issue and it only happens in Overwatch. When I start the game my CPU goes straight to 70% utilization and temp of 70C (normally when playing my temp is arround 55), this issue goes away after a while in menu and at that moment its using arround 5%. Im using Windows 10 and Im pretty convinced this has to do something with Overwatch and not our PCs. Most people probably dont even notice it, but when you have i3-10105F like me and game starts lagging if I jump straight into game after launching it, then you know something isnt right. Ive also verified in Resource monitor that its Overwatch using 65% of my CPU and nothing else. Everything Im using is up to date and I have also built my PC by myself a year ago… I can play Apex arround 60C just fine and Apex is much more demanding game than OW. Ive also did all kinds of Benchmarks and everything seems to be ok. I still have a MemTest to do tomorow just to be sure, I never did Memtest anyway so atleast I will find out if my RAMs are stable (after year of using my PC  ).

Thanks for sharing this on forum because I was thinking something with my PC isnt right. There is also one more recent post on forum about this so yeah Im pretty sure thats some optimization error when launching the game most likely caused by some of recent Overwatch updates.

SO yeah I think your PC is fine, thats probably something devs need to look at. NVIDIA drivers update cant really hurt older games, those are just updates to make sure those newest games will run on your GPU. Also GPU driver has nothing to do with Overwatch CPU utilization.

Only thing you can do here to prevent those high temps when launching OW is to configure Power saver mode (make sure you switch from passive cooling to active), write there in max cpu state arround 40% and wait it out in menu before game comes to itself. Its also good to use this power saver mode whenever youre watching YouTube or something like that to prolong your systems lifespan and save some electricity.

Hello as someone who literally spent about 3 days trying to fix this i found out that using the software GPU-Z was the most accurate one. i tried task manager , nzxt cam and i was getting 0% load. annoyed as hell. i did all these other changes , but i’d advise before doing all these other changes you might of found from searching the web , go ahead and download GPU-Z its actually showing my load % . im still running nzxt cam but for some reason it still says 0% load . on GPU-Z it shows my load going up to 80% . Which makes sense because even thou my gpu load was at 0% my game still ran smooth .

I’m still keeping all the other changes i made thou , as i do find them useful.
Hope this helps
