PC Framerate is capable of going higher than the monitor

Hi, I have a laptop screen that outputs 60 FPS but my GPU can do around 90-100 fps. I’ve heard that higher framerates have less input lag but does that mean that I should try to maximize framerates even though I can’t see it?

you should definitely turn off vsync if you want to minimize input lag. running higher frames than your monitor can output will give you a better experience, so you can turn down graphics settings for visual effects. they just add clutter to an already chaotic and colorful game, anyway.

Yes, higher FPS reduce input lag. There’s some videos on youtube and so on that explains more in-depth to how but long story short, your GPU pushes out the latest info for your monitor to display.

You have around 8,34 m/s less input lag at 120 fps than you have compared to 60.

No matter what you do, whether you limit the FPS in-game to your monitor’s refresh rate or higher, you want it to be as consistent as reasonably possible. So pick the lowest consistent FPS that your laptop does and limit your in-game FPS to that. Do not do it at the driver level, as that has no benefit to input lag. Also don’t enable low latency mode (or any alternative that sounds the same) in the drivers either if you’re gonna limit it higher than 60.

Do you think that it’s worth it? I could probably run the game on medium at 60 FPS instead?

Basically run all the stable fps you can.

Not a competive ow question this is more of a question for tech support from someone who knows their way around a pc

If you really want to max frames and have as little lag as possible. Really all you need to do is play everything on low settings, run a wired connection, disable V sync, basic stuff like then then just uncap your frame-rate. I run on a 144Hz monitor but regularly run at a stable 155 FPS by uncapping and lowering the graphic settings.
