A friend plays OW religiously on PS4, and I recently got them on a PC to play with me. Have them using an X1 controller since it’s just plug and play for this game.
However, they are having issues getting the controller to play like the PS4. We noticed there are a lot of controller settings on PC OW. Aim smoothing, aim technique, etc.
The biggest complaint is there seems to be a inherent lag, even if it’s a couple ms worth, but it’s noticeable for them coming from PS4. Also it’s very hard for them to do a 180 quickly like they can on PS4. We have tried all kinds of combinations but can’t seem to get it right. I don’t think it’s a PC issue as the computer is quite overkill for the game (i9, 1080GTX, 32GB DDR4, playing @ 1080p)
Anyone have luck getting a PC controller to feel like the console version of OW?
Good luck with that. Pc dosent have aim assist so no matter your settings your not going to be doing any good. The diffrence is aim assist.

Honestly the sooner they switch to M+KB the better.
They will constantly be playing at a disadvantage regardless of their skill level with a controller vs M+ KB.
Even if you friend says now that they dont care and they just want to use a pad because its easier, it’s always going to be in the back of their mind when they get killed by literally any character that they’re not on a level playing field and it will only drive them back to PS4.
There is no aim assist and thats probably just playing itself out for your friend, thats why it feels ‘off’.
I also have an xbox controller and they are basically just plug and play with any game, never experienced any issues with input lag etc, not even when i tried it just now, its most likely superstition.
It’s possible to ease them in with a controller + mouse or a sony motion controller + mouse setup so that at least half of it is the same, but setting controls can be finnicky.

Why is he using a controller on PC? There is a definite learning curve, but he will be better off learning.
He will never be able to keep up with m/kb users with a controller.
