Patch Notes Ideas

A handful of dream patch notes ideas that I’ve thought about during this competitive season. Some of these will obviously be much more feasible than others. What else would you add or change?

HERO UPDATES
DPS
Hanzo

  • Storm Arrow to 75 damage, 4 shots

  • Can one shot tracer, can’t one shot 200 health with amp, 300 damage total

  • Lunge cooldown from 4 seconds to 6 seconds

  • Ultimate: Dragonstrike

  • DPS from 300 to 250 (from 150 per dragon to 125 per dragon)

  • Slightly harder to kill through Transcendence with this DPS nerf, and more so with Transcendence healing buffed for Zen (further down)

  • Effective duration (length of dragons) increased by 2 seconds

  • Can be used more to zone with increased duration

  • Ultimate animation casts 30% faster

  • Travel speed of dragons increased by 15%

  • Quality of life buffs with reduced cast time and faster dragons

  • New menu option to left click to start arrow draw back, with left click again to fire

McCree

  • Full damage range increased by two meters

  • Minimum damage (with max drop off) to 35 (half damage)

  • Ultimate redesign: Deadeye: 6s duration, each bullet does bonus triple damage on a headshot (420 damage on crit, 210 damage on crit at max range with the earlier change)

  • Rewards good aim

  • Ultimately not too strong like current Deadeye (for balance reasons), but more fun and rewarding to use

Genji

  • Triple jump is now possible again

  • Using Dash while Dragonblade is casting immediately completes the cast (so you could swing right after dashing)

Soldier

  • Tactical Visor increases damage done by 10%

  • Tactical Visor Helix Rocket homes in on targets

Widowmaker

  • Grapple CD increased by 2 seconds

Mei

  • Ult will persist if casted and Mei dies

Tanks
Reinhardt

  • Now has 50% knock back resistance while holding shield up

  • Earthshatter effective height from 2 meters to 2.5 meters

Supports
Ana

  • Nano Boost gives 20% speed boost, heals target to full on use

  • Quick scope delay removed

Mercy

  • Press Q during Valkyrie to toggle between chain beam and focused beam

  • Valkyrie focused beam = 60% amp damage or 120 HPS on a single target (double normal)

  • Valkyrie duration from 15 seconds to 10 seconds

  • Resurrect : CD from 30 seconds to 45 seconds. Target resurrects at 25% health. Valkyrie resurrects at 100% health

  • Caduceus Blaster: Dealing hero damage with Caduceus Blaster triggers 3 seconds of mercys passive healing that cannot be interrupted by damage (20 HPS), does not stack with passive healing if active already

Lucio

  • Ultimate now casts 2x faster

Brigitte

  • Shield bash no longer goes through barriers, but does significantly increased damage to barriers (300 damage to barriers)

  • You can no longer shield bash a Reinhardt pin from the front, but can from the sides

Zenyatta

  • Transcendence healing from 300 HPS to 400 HPS

  • Orb of Destruction from 46 damage to 40

  • Orb of Harmony from 30 HPS to 35 HPS

COMPETITIVE

  • SR can only decay down to 3500 (diamond will not decay)

  • Temporary bans from competitive mode also come with an SR decrease, depending on severity of the offense

  • Low Priority Queue exists for repeat offenders and as an alternative to some bans. Those in low priority queue must play competitive format games with others in low priority queue before entering the normal competitive queue again. These low priority games reward no competitive points and no SR. Winning in a low priority queue game reduces the number of low priority queue games you need to play before queueing again by 3x. All communication is muted in low priority games (voice, text chat, emotes, etc). The amount of low priority games needed depends on the severity of the offense.

  • Low priority queue bans will also come with a SR decrease depending on severity, and if it is a repeat offense

  • Role queue - select which roles you’d like to play between DPS, Tank, Support, and Flex.

  • Each game will have at least 1 DPS, 1 Support, 1 Tank, then either Flex or specific roles for the other 3 slots

  • Role Queue Examples

  • If I only want to DPS, then I just queue as DPS

  • If I am okay with being Tank or DPS but do not want to support, I would queue with Tank and DPS checked (but not Support or Flex)

  • Players are not locked into only picking the heroes of their role, but can be reported for purposefully abusing the system and picking outside what they queued for

  • Players who select Flex can be reported for only picking DPS

TEAM PLAY

  • Design a team for a new 6v6 Team Play mode

  • New feature - Team Colors Creator: Create home and away colors, select particle effect colors for your team.

  • Separate Team Play rating for each individual, and a Team Rating for the team

  • More than 6 people can be on one team

  • You can be on multiple teams, but will only get end of season rewards from your highest ranked team in which you have at least 20 games played

  • Unique rewards for Team Play

  • New color of “golden gun”

  • Unique skins to unlock from to team play

  • Team Browser feature added to help people find both long term teams and pickup teams

QUICK PLAY

  • Quick play now gives competitive points for wins, approximately half as much as competitive wins

PTR

  • Coins on live account now rewarded for each PTR win. Half coins earned for a loss.

STATS

  • Improved stats API now available with stats for each match
