That’s right; It was announced at Blizzcon that they are now officially removing maps from the comp random que rotation, starting with Paris and Horizon Lunar Colony.
This is happening AS SOON AS NEXT WEEKS PTR.

HLC, I didn’t think was too bad after it got reworked… it was still worse than the other, but it was palatable…

Each season will have 12 maps instead of all of them.
That means no maps are getting deleted. Just Paris and Horizon will not be included in next season.

He said the pool, meaning for the season that is being referred to, they wont be in a place for the map picker to select the map

It’s called a map rotation, and Jeff said on the release of role queue that it would be coming for competitive because they finally got “too many maps”.
We have 5 maps of each type (escort have 6), so I expect the competitive map rotation to reduce that to 3 or 4 maps per type. Paris and HLC are just the ones they announced. We will know for sure when the season rotates.
No reason to panic.

oh i heard about that a while ago that some seasons wont have some maps ect so each season feels different, glad both are being removed from rotation for the moment

They absolutely are, from competitive. The way he phrases it in the video, they’re cut from the rotation permanently
you said they were going to be deleted, not true, not even close to true, if you said they will be removed from rotation for next season then me saying obviously not true would have been garbage
Removed from map rotation in comp is worlds different than being deleted. They still exist in the game.

Did you actually think that was what I meant? That they wouldn’t even be available for custom games? That would just be dumb (not for you to think that, but for them to do that)
Their choice to leave it in QP is their choice, I’m pretty neutral on that considering I don’t play QP
they are not just going to delete a map they have spent months on, its just not going to happen, they might edit a map to fix issues with it but they are not going to delete it
