Im fairly certain that in the near future we will see a paid monthly subscription service for a more serious comp mode.
Right now, a great many people are fed up with how comp and matchmaking is, and also how focused Blizz are on skins. But reality check, Blizz is a business and money is top priority. Naturally the reason they focus on skins is for profit.
Blizz (and other companies) priority will always be money. And that means that unless competitiveness becomes profitable, they will never focus on it.
The more comp is ignored, the more demand there is for better comp. This demand inherently creates a possible market for a new product, one designed to satisfy players who want a better comp experience.
Sooner or later Blizz will recognise the possibility of this new avenue for profit, and we will see a monthly paid comp system.

paying monthly to play comp mode will anger the console players bc they already have to pay PSN and Xbox Live fees, not to mention it will kill alot of the casual playerbase

Idk why people think Blizzard is going to do some insane game killing thing that literally no other company is doing.

It wouldnt be the only comp mode. It would be marketed as a “special / serious” comp mode for people who want a premium competitive experience. And honestly if the mode ended up being good I think people would pay. Sau it’s $5/month, that’s only $60 a a year for a premium comp mode, equivelant to what, a couple skins? Id say the value is there and there is definitely a possible market.
not many people would spend $60 a month to play against the same few players over and over again, it just sounds like FACEIT if it was bad

Yeah the same 6 people that bought PvE would be naive enough to pay for a mode that used to be free.
What makes you so certain?
Which players and precisely define what a “better comp experience” is?
This actually sounds like a wonderful idea. Green weapons should also be obtainable Through paid comp.

What makes me think that there is a serious chance of it is the fact that there is very clearly a market for it and blizz are inteligent enough to realise it.
A “better comp experience” is subjective and I wouldnt want to make it based on my own opinion, but for instance a lot of people complain about smurf and alt accounts. If people had to pay to have each account in comp it would massively reduce the number of alts and thereby improve comp.
And if you asked me, if they can sell a bloody weapon color they can sell a new mode that makes comp better.
There was a free PVE mode that is not a LTE?
Since when?
TF2 did it and their competitive mode was a complete failure.
More likely getting a monthly pay to play the license game instead this
Is that so? I didnt know that. I dont actually play many games outside OW. I would say though that even if a different game tried and failed, doesnt mean that Blizz (or another dev) couldnt be successful with it.
Yeah, when TF2 added competitive 6s, they put it behind a ticket you could buy to play the mode. There was another way to qualify for the mode but I don’t remember what it was.
Anyway nobody plays the mode, at all. Even when their casual mode was infested with aimbots, people didn’t want to play comp mode to escape the bots. It was that bad.
There is? How many people?
So there is no such thing to actually sell to this market. You can’t claim there’s a clear market for a thing yet not even define the thing.
You don’t think people will activate a $5 account to boost for selling or alting on? Either the price has to be astronomical to create some kind of elite (which would ruin competitive integrity anyway) or it will do virtually nothing for alt accounts, which usually come with a cost for the associated telephone number. I don’t think there will be any significant change in these accounts than there is from a linked phone number requirement.
What weapon colours are sold in Overwatch 2 and where?
Yet we don’t know what the “makes comp better” thing that you want to sell is. You are the person who suggested it and seemingly don’t know yourself as “it’s subjective” or as it currently stands to people reading, a fantasy concept.
I think you really need to start fleshing all these claims and ideas out.

Disappointing. I didnt realise you wanted to argue just for the sake of argument. I’ll choose to converse with less argumentative people if its all the same to you.
Now you’re just outright lying because someone asked for clarification and substance? Wow.
Interesting. But that no withstanding, demand always means possible profit in business, right? And I feel like the demand is there.
What do you think TF2 could have done better to make the mode more successful?
You want them to bring back comp tokens?
Not so much what I personally want as what I think will happen.
