Im really disappointed in this way of delivering tokens to the community. Anyone who doesn’t have lightning fast internet or has a disability basically has no chance of getting tokens. This really alienates so many people and are most likely your loyal fans. At this point why even watch it live? Majority of us aren’t even going to get the rewards to represent our favorite teams in game.
Even with the tokens incentive, I can’t be bothered. OWL is just so boring to watch.
Which way are they doing it now?
I feel like every rollout has had some sort of pushback. What is the ideal way?
two codes after every game. i think the codes can only be redeemed once
Pretty sure this is just for this pro am tournament. When it’s the actual season is will probably be the same as usual.
From the Activision/Blizzard point of view this Pre-season tournament had to go quiet without any tokens because of layoffs and OWL teams having problems with Activision/Blizzard due to current poor sponsor state. In other words Activision/Blizzard had to screw Pro-am when it comes to rewarding the viewers because they had screwed up the whole league due to there investment ignorance over these past few years.
The season doesn’t start until later this month. The current games are pre-season stuff.
I have to admit doe, I think they should have paused for a year after all the issues.
I don’t think any legitimate people have gotten any tokens from those codes.
Most likely bots farming them, or the real possibility they are all fake. Blizzard is that greedy.
They have always been bad, be it on Twitch, Youtube of their very own official website. You can be logged in, your account linked and it would say you earn drops…
And then hours later you get nothing and support just ask “if you were connected”, reset your browser and what ever excuse they gave. Never mind you often can’t even tell if you got drops till hours after you already “watched” said event.
I haven’t tried the new system, and honestly I can’t be bothered. Any time I tried in the past it didn’t work, and it’s not worth 30+ hours of streaming something to get a skin.
People ironically watch OWL? I thought everyone was just opening it on a tab, putting it on mute and forget it’s even there.
The lawsuits are literally because Blizzard is costing the pro teams money with their bad decision making. Pausing for a year will fuel the fire and will likely kill teams.
There’s already rumours that 2 teams are in the process of disbanding.
I think those are Gladiators and Hunters.
I still didn’t get my rewards from OWL grand finals, lol. And even if I did, it wouldn’t have been enough for a skin because they increased the token cost of skins by 50% while also almost doubling the real terms cost of buying tokens.
ive never liked owl if anything if i could i just would load twitch to show im watching the stream despite that i hate it
I stopped caring about OWL in 2019. OWL is a joke.
Honestly Overwatch would have been a far better game without OWL.
The pause would help rather than run on an empty wallet (still not empty, but you get it). Would have been the perfect time to restructure the league properly if anything, discuss how to manage stuff, make up with a few adjustments, do some proper deals with brands, promote tier 2 or lower, have some smaller tournaments, etc.
Like last season, we saw enough from players and coaches about their issues on twitter, I wouldn’t want to see it again happen this season frankly. It’s already a joke imo when you play tournaments in a literal office room with panels between the 2 teams lol.
Probably because:
Owl: flawed
Make a balance exception just for pros or t500+ and let them enjoy it, while making it easier to watch.
Or let it perish, idrc.
Considering last I heard almost none of the teams actually made a profit, it’s not surprising. Blizzard ask tons of money for teams to join but offers very little in ad revenue and the like.
They also lost their exclusivity contract with youtube but Pro AM is a youtube exclusive?
They should be trying to sign contracts with as many streaming services as possible. Facebook gaming is trying to get its feet wet, Twitch and Youtube are obvious.
Wait so you mean i left my pc afk on stream for hours all for nothing? Daamn you blizz!!!
