OWL Summer Showdown - LON vs PAR, LAG vs SFS

I just tuned in and Shock is playing Brig with Rein? The heck?

Jesus that was a tough round. Shock had no business winning that.

Reminder: In the match prior to this one, the Spitfire won the Control map, then rattled off 3 straight map losses to give the Eternal the map win. Could we be seeing deja vu play out right in front of our eyes?

Regardless, it’s all tied up heading into the second half.

AFTER MAP 2 (Match 2)

Ilios (Control): Los Angeles Gladiators 2, San Francisco Shock 0

King’s Row (Hybrid): San Francisco Shock 4, Los Angeles Gladiators 3

MATCH SCORE: Los Angeles Gladiators 1, San Francisco Shock 1

NEXT UP: The second half of Gladiators versus Shock, starting with Junkertown (Escort) before moving on to Volskaya Industries (Assault). If a Map 5 is necessary, Lijiang Tower (Control) will serve as a tiebreaker map.

I’ve actually really missed sombra in OWL.

I’m just getting on now….any whackiness?

Other than Brig being used with Rein, and Torb being used aplenty by the Shock…not much, really.

Oh, and lest I forget, both the Shock and the Eternal lost Control, but the Eternal won their match against the Spitfire and the Shock are now one map away from taking the series against the Glads (and ruining my predictions).

Ah yes…thank you for the flashbacks of when I had mine pulled out because the “legs” were super crooked and tooth was basically coming out sideways….dentist had such a hard time pulling it that when it finally came out and I asked what the pale yellow stuff was attached to it that didn’t look like tooth, he very nonchalantly stated “oh that’s just part of your mandible”……lovely…

I had shock take this 3-2 in my pick’ems, it’s not looking as close as that.

Ok, if you had “Shock pausing due to keyboard, mousepad, and gaming mice getting water damage” on your Summer Showdown bingo card, you can mark that square off now.

In other news, we are going to a Map 5, ladies and gentlemen!

AFTER MAP 4 (Match 2)

Ilios (Control): Los Angeles Gladiators 2, San Francisco Shock 0

King’s Row (Hybrid): San Francisco Shock 4, Los Angeles Gladiators 3

Junkertown (Escort): San Francisco Shock 2, Los Angeles Gladiators 1

Volskaya Industries (Assault): Los Angeles Gladiators 2, San Francisco Shock 1

MATCH SCORE: San Francisco Shock 2, Los Angeles Gladiators 2

NEXT UP: OVERTIME! A Control map tiebreaker will be played. As there are no ties on Control, whichever team wins this Best-of-3 on Lijiang Tower will take game, set, and match. As the Dark Irons once famously said…

“EVERYONE, GET IN HERE!”

Those EMPs man. Just a momentum killer.

I really love choosing shock for my pick’ems, bc even if they lose I feel good. Love watching the shock take an L.

Perfection on the day’s picks for Trilly. Now watch her completely mess up the rest of her picks for the remainder of the tournament. :upside_down_face:

Moth with the 3 boop, the Gladiators with the match win! My predictions are saved!

FINAL (Match 2)

Ilios (Control): Los Angeles Gladiators 2, San Francisco Shock 0.

King’s Row (Hybrid): San Francisco Shock 4, Los Angeles Gladiators 3.

Junkertown (Escort): San Francisco Shock 2, Los Angeles Gladiators 1.

Volskaya Industries (Assault): Los Angeles Gladiators 2, San Francisco Shock 1.

Lijiang Tower (Control): Los Angeles Gladiators 2, San Francisco Shock 0.

FINAL SCORE: Los Angeles Gladiators 3, San Francisco Shock 2

LOS ANGELES GLADIATORS WINS!

The Gladiators start off the Summer Showdown with a close win. If you’re a Shock fan, don’t lose heart just yet, cos the London Spitfire is coming up tomorrow and I guarantee you that the Shock is not in the mood to give the Spitfire their first match victory.

And with that, that is all for now. Matches resume with Day 1 of the APAC region at 2:00 AM PDT (5:00 AM EDT) tomorrow. Note, in light of WyomingMyst’s wisdom teeth pull, I may take over match discussion thread duties tomorrow morning, so be on the lookout for a thread(s) from either of us. But for now, get some rest. Until tomorrow morning, from our wonderful host Wyoming, I’m Arena25 saying Good Night and Charlie Niners.

Naw, you can still get some easy points this weekend. Just pick 3-0 Shock over Spitfire during tomorrow’s match, as well as 3-0 Spark over Valiant and a 3-0 or 3-1 NYXL win over Valiant. Thank me later.

Those are indeed my picks. Though I might’ve said Spitfire would take one lucky map from Shock…

what are the links to watch y’all? i forgot lmao

also overwatchleague.com website don’t work for me it always logs me out after like 2 mins lol

fd is such a downgrade man i feel bad for shock

Post show…Did you hear what they said?

“Good DPS can make good healers”

Too bad most of our general player base is too caught up in the DPS role to lend a hand to heal.
