I, WyomingMyst, am a Forum MVP. This means I spend a great deal of time helping players with Overwatch (which is why my text is green in color). This thread is not related to my role as a Forum MVP and I do not represent Blizzard Entertainment.
Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the match!
The London vs. Paris match should be a fairly interesting one, if only cos for this match and this match alone, neither team will have to play against ping as well as opponents. Still, even when you factor in the Sparkr signing on London’s side and the fact they will not have to deal with 200ms+ ping, I’m not sure London has enough against Paris. Paris takes the first match 3-2.
And then the second match…Gladiators versus Shock. I’m going with the upset…3-2 Glads over the Shock. That said, I would not be surprised if this one ends with the Shock winning.
Hope you all enjoy the matches today. I am kinda half conscious after getting my Wisdom tooth (finally) pulled. So if I am not responding much… There is a reason.
Ugh, wisdom teeth. Why did God curse us with these? They cause more trouble than they’re worth.
Got mine pulled right after high school graduation, while my younger sibling had to get wisdom teeth pulled at 2 separate times. Wasn’t pleasant for several weeks afterward.
With Moira and Echo changes now patched into the OWL client, I hope so as well. But we’ll know for certain after the first couple weeks.
You got my sympathies, captain.
Friend, no offense, but these match discussion threads are meant to give us a nice little sanctuary…away from the people who feel the need to post 1000 threads about “Revert crossplay” or “Nerf McCree”. I certainly understand your frustration, but to borrow a heavily overused Twitter reference:
Unfortunately, Overwatch League and YouTube are testing out a new advertisement platform. In practice, this involves cutting into the 3 minute long media breaks with anywhere from 6-10 ads. This allows Blizzard to honor their sponsorship contracts, while also having to avoid producing their own ads about Call of Duty Mobile, Bandicoot Crash, or other games. Unfortunately, while they complete the transition, 4K quality is unavailable. However, I suspect starting next season we’ll be able to turn off these ads with a YouTube Premium subscription, similar to how you can turn off ads on Twitch with a Twitch Prime subscription.
TL;DR New ad platform, that if all goes well in testing, will allow us starting next season to skip over ads with a YouTube Premium sub. Which also probably means OWL will be staying on YouTube for the foreseeable future.
Long story short, Hero pools will not be in effect for the May Melee, the Summer Showdown (which we’re currently in), and the playoffs. The next time you’ll see Hero Pools will be the Countdown Cup.
Also, even though Hero Pools will return for the Countdown Cup in about a month’s time…because Tracer, Sombra, Reinhardt, and Zenyatta were already rotated out, they will not be rotated out again.
Just as soon as they finish transitioning to their new advertisement platform…not sure when that transition period will end.
As for the match at hand, the Paris Eternal manage to slam the door shut on Hanamura, and the Spitfire are still searching for their first ever match win.
FINAL (Match 1)
Busan (Control): London Spitfire 2, Paris Eternal 0.
Hollywood (Hybrid): Paris Eternal 1, London Spitfire 0.
Watchpoint: Gibraltar (Escort): Paris Eternal 3, London Spitfire 1.
Hanamura (Assault): Paris Eternal 2, London Spitfire 1.
FINAL SCORE: Paris Eternal 3, London Spitfire 1
PARIS ETERNAL WINS!
Not even the signing of Sparkr and an EU-friendly server could help the London Spitfire get their first match win. For the Eternal, however, the win is much needed, as they are near the bottom of the standings and need victories stat to have a chance of making the playoffs or even be relevant in the play-in tournament.
Now, it’s on to our second and final match of the day, and boy is it a doozy…the L.A. Gladiators versus the San Francisco Shock. Battle for California, featuring two OWL2021 NA heavyweights. Let’s get it on!
