Since the OWL playoffs started, everyone (including myself) have wondered if they’ve reach a certain number of hours watched to receive the perks (skins/tokens).
OWL should’ve had some kind of progress tracker so participants can see what they have earned and number of hours watched. I can see that stress of all this has discouraged some people from continuing to watch the Playoffs and Grand Finals.
I simply just want to earn the OWL skins more than the tokens.
I hope the OWL will consider developing something to make things easier and less stress on keeping track.
Switching to YouTube was the biggest mistake the OWL has ever made. Sure, Blizzard got a ton of money from the deal, but they lost 50% of their viewership immediately. No body watches esports on YouTube.
I think their deal with YouTube ends with this season, so hopefully they’ll go back to twitch for the next season of OWL, when/if a next season happens, rather than sign a new deal with YT.
Last I checked around 12:30 PM EST I had received 130 tokens so far since Sunday, which includes all live broadcasts and encores so far - and I continue to make sure I have every stream on to maximize tokens gained.
So based on tokens received (started at 2902 now at 3032) I’ve officially watched (according to what has dropped so far) 26 hours but it’s well over 30 by now based on broadcast lengths. It’s just catching up at this point.
I have gotten close to 120ish tokens I think, that is basically how I’ve tracked it. I know the drops are not 100% working for everyone though and I am still missing all the skins I should have since I’ve reached the 30 hours required already.
