OWC will be MOTH META!

The next OWC event is confirmed to be MOTH META!

So excited, can’t wait to play a Mercy that’s not D-tier :sob::sob::sob:

Incase you are wondering, this is what you‘re in for:

As long as both teams always pick mercy, it will be fine imo. She is in the running with brig and sigma for being the most broken heroes ever in the game at different periods of time.

I do think mercy players will love it, and many people will not be a fan of how consistently mercy can bring people back. But it might be fun for a bit!

Refresh my memory on moth meta. Was that shortly after Valk replacing rez? And when she got multiple rezzes?

I’ve played since OW1 S4, it’s just I have poor memory

Moth Mercy didnt push for a single meta so it will be a massive improvement over basically anything else.

In fact, Moth Mercy was often considered an equalizer that made more heroes and comps viable than many other heroes.

Of course, popular DPS hero mains never liked a hero that undid kills, even if it was one of the most balanced moments in OW history.

Can someone remind me the roster of moth meta? Can’t remember it since it was long ago since OW 1. Was it Ana, Moira, and Sombra?

I think it was where valk reset res cooldowns

If they pick exactly the patch where moth mercy was added, then it will be until Orisa/DF release, but not Moira (yeah, DF and Orisa were released before Moira).

It will also have Sym 2.0.

Oh boy, it’s that time where 6 sec hack lockout, and anti nade was prominent lolol

Moth meta lasted for a very very long time actually.

My guess is that they will go for the most broken version fresh after the Valk rework.

Meaning instant rez, rez reset when popping Valk + reduced rez cooldown in Valk.

Moth meta lasted a long while. Some time during it, Moira was released and a short while after the final nerfs, Brig was released if I recall correctly.

It will likely be launch Moth Meta, meaning instant rez + cooldown reset on Valk + reduced rez cooldown in Valk.

The height of it was at the moment she got Valk

Valk was heightened movement speed, free flight, double range with chain beams, infinite ammo, and faster firing speed. She also got the ressurect cooldown which was still 30 seconds but also instantly cast instead of being delayed.

Valk refreshed the ressurect cooldown on use of the ult and then also reduced the cooldown to 10 seconds. Valk also used to last 20 or 25 seconds, I forget which. This meant Mercy could instantly revive someone who died, ult, revive a second person instantly, and then she could get two more revives before the ult ended.

It was the single most broken thing this game has ever seen and they absolutely should not bring it back in any capacity. But I guess that’s what we’re doing.

True

Not entirely true.

The increased fire rate never hit the live servers after the PTR, only the double projectile speed did (like current live version).

The Nano Mercy clips from the PTR quickly put a stop to that fire rate bonus lmao

The only difference apart from rez ofc is that GA had 100% speed bonus in Valk instead of the current 50%.

It was 20s.

It‘s literally an event that features past metas. Moth Meta is a past meta, therefore it is featured in the event. Why should it be an exception?

Because it was horrible? Play Mercy or lose?

Who wants to experience all the godawful metas of years past? They got nuked for good reason

That‘s basically every Meta tho.

Right now, not having a Juno on your team also means a 50% increased chance of losing, if the enemy has a Juno lol.

Moth Meta was absolutely busted, but so were many other things in OW.

The „play meta or lose“ sentiment has always existed and that will never change.

I am not trying to push for another rez meta, but when mercy is viably for something other than enabling a one-shot with damage boost, the meta is just way more flexible.

Mercy being a solid hero (apart from pocketing) is good for the game.
She doesn‘t have to be meta, but her being „good“ would free up some breathing room in strict metas I think.

This meta may be where we start to see drop offs in players playing classic.

A little disappointed they skipped over most of the 2017 Dive meta.

Although this means Symmetra 2.0.

You arent going to get an intelligent, unbiased response out of chieftankdps.

Tbh, Moth Meta is part of dive meta in a way.

Dive was meta during that time, Mercy just was just more the most important aspect of it, despite originally not being part of dive meta ever haha.

:sob::sob::sob:

Symmetra 2.0 time, OG Symmetra mains RISE!

It is, but it’s the end and arguably the worst part of the Dive meta.

Dive was still meta during moth mercy. Moth Mercy was funny like that - she made basically most heroes viable as long as she was picked, which is honestly a better state of game than current OW.
