…Except we’re releasing a hero who is LITERALLY a hard counter for any flying heroes.
Blizzard, if you’re going to say, “Putting heroes in the BP is okay because we’re redesigning the game to not have hard counters,” you PROBABLY shouldn’t make your first release hero a blatant, obvious hard counter. Particularly since the tank role, in general has literally no hitscan ranged options for dealing with fliers, and the game itself has no other grounding mechanics to speak of.
Sick of cooperate double speak. When you buy the battle pass, you buy a tactical advantage that everyone else has to do a fairly ludicrous grind for. Call it what it is.
You can say that every CC is a counter to specific heroes. They also never stated that they want to go away from counters. They just want to remove HARD counters.
All those things require D.va to tunnel vision on the pharah and leave the rest of her team. She’s the best tank counter to Pharah, but not the most ideal counter and only has that title because no other tank (other than roadhog exploiting a bad pharah) can do the job nearly as well.
You say that like she isn’t designed to do this already. Boosters to move to a target, then back to her team have been in the game since launch.
Actually, why do people criticize tanks like this? People say things like “Reinhardt’s bad because he’s busy protecting his team and not charging in and fighting”, but that’s an intentional design choice with its inherent ups and downs. He’s not “bad” because that’s his playstyle, and neither is D.va
She’s always been the least “tank” like tank in the game, so why complain now?
No, the ideal counter is a hitscan, but if you don’t have that, D.va is a fantastic counter. She’s literally built in a way that objectively counters Pharah, and while she may have to leave her team to do it (she doesn’t always, DM works just fine on the ground), that doesn’t mean its a bad thing to leave your team.
Besides, don’t you guys want more independence? It seems like that was just a lie, and in reality people want tanks to be meat shields with no real damaging power or independence.
