Just figured I’d get a thread going to collect my own thoughts, but also for other people to chime in with what they think needs to be in the beta.
Guess I’ll start with these expected changes.
Mandatory:
Exact 1 to 1 accuracy between OW1 and OW2 (It’s currently off by about 3%)
Drops for beta access, but more availability. Either through OWL or streamer.
2 new maps (3 would be better)
New Support Hero
Competitive mode
Mercy SuperJump fix, and better button layout
Bap tweaks
Sym/Junk getting “something” even if it’s half baked
Replay Viewer working
Good to have
Open beta, with no keys
New Support Hero and new Tank Hero
All the new editions of the skins
Only play on new maps
Some sort of new arcade mode
Maybe enable NoLimits in the arcade
UI fixes
3 New Maps
Junk/Sym rework that is good
Hog/D.va can counterplay Ana
1 Tank Limit in Open Queue
GreyFalcon’s Preferred
Overwatch 1.5 added to Overwatch 1 Experimental, 5v5, No Role Queue, Role Limits, 1 Tank Max per team, 3 Support Max per team, No Limit on DPS max per team. As many balance changes as possible ported over from OW2, and throw it into the Experimental
Beta #2 announced, get in 2 days earlier by getting a key, all old keys are valid, have streamer drops the entire 2 week duration of beta.
1 New Support for Beta#2, and 2 more maps
Open Beta#3 announced for 2 weeks later
1 Additional New Support and 1 New Tank for Beta #3, and all the new maps
Announce future plans where they will put Overwatch on Steam
Announce future plans for Quickplay and Arcade to be F2P
In-game purchases do not Support Steam Wallet (i.e. No Valve 30% cut of profits)
Some solidish release date for PVP and PVE with a season/quarter and year that they are expected to drop. Like “Summer 2022” or “Winter 2022”
I had a very good laugh with the suggestion of three new heroes. That was rich, we’ll be lucky to get one. Sym is not getting a rework but some tuning, JR is not getting a rework, he’s just getting his trap back.
Well, I think they are gonna wait for further Mei changes until after PVP (I.e. Hated hero status, stop-gap for subpar tank teammate, and makes it so Rush is decent at high ELO)
I did mention D.va
And I don’t think Zarya is in a bad spot in OW2 for ladder play.
I want to see some new support and tank heroes. Maybe 1 of each but might be pushing it.
Don’t care for another DPS, I feel like supports/tanks have a greater effect at changing the feel of a game which makes it refreshing.
Obviously a couple new maps would be nice.
In terms of gameplay, I felt that everything was too fast in OW2. It was a factor I really didn’t like, so I would like to see the DPS passive removed as I think it is completely unnecessary. Better yet, let me test some sort of movement acceleration. We know they were testing it internally and I am personally a huge advocate for it. I think for the long term health of the game it is necessary but I know it is very controversial. I would be extremely happy if they just let us test it, even if it was only for 1-2 weeks.
but why not make it sooner rather than later? there is a lot of wasted potential on a hero about ice and a rework for Mei would probably make her fun to play and let her compete with the launch of a new hero in terms of popularity, and even other dps could replace her and do her pseudo tank job well too
you mentioned only against Ana, but I feel her armor reduction made her too fragile with her giant hitbox and DM cooldown + range are not so great against other stuff too like Hog’s hook where he has double her range
Zarya is not so amazing at range and she gets good close range the moment she gets her charge up against other tanks, it’d be better if they increased her projectile speeds imo
