But it would keep that gap relative to the highend instead of gm getting paired with lets say a bronze or silver player
SR ranks are for display only. Changing who is assigned what ranks changes literally nothing about match quality.
Maybe, I don’t know. I only pointed to the ones that I heard saying it.
But I am not out there looking for those opinions (-;
Technically Flats in the clip I gave here said that Emongg agrees with that, but that is only a hearsay so I am not taking it for granted.
OK, then it will be lower than 10 minutes… The question is what it will be and if it will be accepted by GM players. I really cannot extrapolate this right now.
Well maybe. But they will disagree with you, and run back to devs to cry about 5 minute queue time and how in Apex it is instant…
Yeah, I always was amazed that they would cry about the time they can interact with their fan base… Read donations and stuff… But hey, what can I do about it?
Again, I just call what I hear. I am not out there 24/7 looking for their opinions. there are few I watch and when some one appearing there says something I tend to remember it for some time.
That is not happening… yet.
Really dont think this is an issue and even if it was, they can tune up the values the MM assigns and the thresholds to make the players that are way out of their range to gain/lose less SR than intended for a match of a specific rank.
For some examples: Stylosa, A10, Samito, and super to a lesser degree.
Also, I believe valorant qs around around 2 minutes. If content creators can’t suck it up for around the time it takes to make some ramen that’s outrageous.
MMR just needs to be removed. Your rank is fake because MMR exists lol it’s the biggest clown show in the world.
Like what? Do we have any details about how skill is determined or is that still classified information?
I think if Blizzard found a way to do polls, they could ask GM players if they would want something like this while also talking about the potential que times going up. Let the players chose if they want games to be higher rated but longer queues and vice versa. I think this idea in general would be good in the future at least though if the player base grows.
Samito said in the podcast with SVB that he changed his mind on this and he likes it now.
As for the rest OK. I don’t watch them, nor follow them on twitter (I am a weirdo that do not use social media). So I didn’t know this.
Well to prepare a good ramen from scratch you would need around 10-12 hrs (-;
That is why no one actually do it and goes to a ramen restaurant ^^
And yeah, I know you meant instant ramen that takes around 10 minutes to make (including toppings).
I am pretty sure it is standard in all games to have two separate numbers for rank and MMR. It works like that in league (at least it used to back in the day and I do not reacall them ever changing it)
Sure… But we are talking about taking feedback that they asked for from players that were asked. We already know that they don’t do that and throw away all feedback that is given to them when they asked for it (case and point all the feedback they asked GM Mercy streamers that they completely and utterly ignored). So even if they do this I feel it will be like ‘ok give us your opinion, so we can disregard it and do our thing already’. After that fiasco that happen I have no faith in Blizzard and their ‘we want your feedback on this please give it to us’.
Sure, if there would be more GM players (and I mean actual GM players, not ‘fake’ gm players because we lowered SR requirement) then this would worked perfectly. This is even implied in that post you are answering, that GM population is simply too small right now.
Nope it’s all confidential. Say what you will about whether MMR accurately reflects someone’s skill. But I think it’s silly to propose changes when we don’t know anything about how it works in the first place.
Yeah Emongg said he’d rather take shorter q times so he can play rather than better quality matches.
As a high masters player myself, I feel like your ability to queue should be WITHIN only your current rank, I couldn’t care less about my queue time if every game was fun and wasn’t a dice roll to see who wins. I queue into GM games, get rolled, I queue into diamond/plat games, I roll them, it’s a never-ending cycle and it’s very boring.
I’m flat out done with the matchmaker. If I can tell from the first 30 seconds that a match is probably going to suck, I’m dodging. It’s not hard to tell if a game is going to be bad despite blizzard trying to hide any indication of player skill from the get-go.
Things you can figure out pretty quick:
team comp synergy and how well heros do on certain maps
ranks from open profiles
if the enemy team is stacking
I’ll take the lose, the penalty, and i don’t need to play at all if i think the game is going to pair me with a bunch of random people with level 1 endorsements and inflated SR against a stack with t500/masters title cards because they’re off-roling to play with friends.
No thanks.
This is the first season I have ever dodged (or even left for that matter) a competitive match I queued for.
I agree it is too small right now. I also disagree that the only fake GMs are alt accounts as 3 accounts owned by the same person, is the same player. People who have become GM recently is because the player base has expanded. GM is the top 1%, if 100 is 100 there is 1 GM, if the player base is 1000, there are now 10 GMs. 1% can grow and it has and that’s a good thing. The player base has grown and therefore there are more players making it into GM and they earned that and you shouldn’t try to act like they didn’t accomplish it.
I never talked about alts… But them actually make stuff worse I agree…
I know. I was actually referring to the idea in this topic (not yours I know but I wanted to be clear, since it is not a private conversation([saluting] private conversation)) of expanding SR range for GM so the diax players will become GM and there will be no problem. That is what I meant by ‘fake’ GMs. I know why people that were not GM in OW1 now are, it is simple math really.
I know, and understand as much. And I did not mean people that are GM now and were not in OW1 as ‘fake GMs’. I meant that we should not expand SR range to get people that are Diax in to GM. And that was one of the ideas here (again, I know it was not yours but we are not talking here privately so I think it was worth mentioning).
I mean we don’t know if the matchmaker isn’t meant to put Masters into Plat games because rank doesn’t reflect MMR.
To be clear it’s possible for a Masters-ranked player to play against a Plat ranked but their MMR is different so they’re actually closer.
We also know matchmaker has been bugged.
In Overwatch 1 it wasn’t possible for this to happen.
If it can happen in Overwatch 2 then change it back to the Overwatch system where you can play against people a whole skill division of difference MMR wise (or 1k SR)
That’s all you need to do.
As for your weighted MMR idea it’s effectively just reducing the skill division you can play with so it’s the same solution applied in a different way
To be honest I think if it’s possible to match with anyone an more than an entire skill division (MMR wise) from you then it should be changed.
What if a player started in Overwatch 2 and made it to high GM; does this mean this player isn’t a GM player? What tells you the same player wouldn’t be a GM player in the first game?
Please, read what I wrote as an explanation of a ‘fake GM’…
I can’t get much clearer than that…
But I work 8 to 12 hours a day, so how can I enjoy playing the game if I have to wait a long time for it? In a way, it’s tough getting unballanced GM games, but honestly, I don’t mind trading a bit of quality over shorter Q times.
I’ve just played like 45-50 games this season, and the games weren’t THAT unballanced – mostly ranged from high Masters to GM1’s; I barely got any Diamond, though I haven’t play enough to give a decent input – I’m just talking about my experience.
It’s relatively simple to just make gm accept a tighter mmr range once you are in gm which would achieve the same thing without messing with mmr numbers.
