Overwatch is losing to Binding of Isaac and Dead by Daylight. I don’t mean to say Overwatch is bad, but like… it’s losing to things that you wouldn’t expect.
That is not exactly a huge achievement for an AAA game.
I consider top5/10 as a place where it defines if you know the name of the game, or you don’t. So, the 20th place is kinda pepega. OW should definitely be top3 not the less, but gameplay sucks these days, skill is not appreciated, hence - top20.
Microtransactions are included in that calculus.
By selling extra, optional content such as Battle Passes, Gold Coins, Skin Bundles and Prisms.
Its a common business model for a lot of video games: provide a free-to-play game with optional (usually cosmetic) items that are purchasable with money.
I checked SteamDB.com and the 20th spot is GTAV

OW actually jumped from top 76 to the # 13 spot the first day the cat skins came out, and has since been falling and sometimes jumping back up. But yeah it’s not doing bad by any metric on Steam

And yet it you still can’t get away from the game. Wild isn’t it? At least me being here makes sense, I mean I still get on the game (at least once a week if not more)
Not saying you have to do the same, but if you hate the game and don’t want to play the game…why bother staying here. On a place all about the game?

ow is a very unique game. what are its closest parallels? paladins?
it has no competition, it is the only game occupying the space it occupies.
Any hero shoot I guess? But I’m not well versed enough to point those out
Though now that it’s free to play…maybe all free to play games so that might put fortnight as a competitor?

I mean you could argue that all games are competing for your time but you need to draw a line somewhere. ow isnt competing with skyrim
Well yeah, but Skyrim isn’t a hero shooter nor is Skyrim free to play. So it’s valid to say that Skyrim isn’t OW’s competition
Yeah, thats my argument. Other games that are free-to-play are OW’s competition.
Id argue that video game players play multiple genres of video games and thus any video game that is even remotely similar (like Fortnite) is competition.
Yeah, aside from Mercy’s Cat skin, the current OW2 shop items are pretty underwhelming. And despite the Steam Review bombs, players are still playing OW2 lol.

there isnt that many. paladins, maybe valo, maybe apex and then the new marvel game. not exactly a whole lot of competition in the space.
