KelsoFox was mentioning that they could change Mercy’s beam length and GA speed. Which with a couple tweaks, that’s a damned good idea.

- Cooldown reduced to 1.5sec, down from 2.5sec.
- Travel speed is at 17m/s.

- Travel speed reduced to 17m/s, down from 25 m/s.

- Beam length reduced to 15m, down from 30m.
People in OW1 mentioned Valkyrie was too much “spectator mode”. With not much reason to just sit on the ground behind a corner during a teamfight, and not use her flight capabilities.
With OW2 that changed, however a big part of the problem was too much survival, and too much movement speed.
The devs are, basically, looking for some survival reduction nerf. Since I’m pretty sure they got the message that 2.5sec GA just isn’t a fluid or highly enjoyable play experience. And it also kinda runs opposite to their anti-pocket “Triage” playstyle goals.
So this scales back some of the less interesting buffs in Valk. And gives her back her 1.5sec GA. And also provides a reason to be zipping around during your Ult.

i dont like this nerf tbh as its incredibly drastic. i’d reduce it to 20m instead of 15m & only reduce her speed in valk from 25 m/s to 20 m/s

20m is the entire objective length, with 15m you kinda are forced to not just hide in cover.
Also the chainbeams are 10m radius, so you can kinda extend it that way. Then if it heals less players.
make it so her nonstop regen is reimplemented during valk and u got a deal
I think we’re going to have to error on the side of a little bit too much survival reduction, and then get an adjustment tweak later.
But I’d imagine instead of the active-regen, they’d just increase the Sympathetic Recovery to 30%.
the thing i hate the most about the removal of the active regen is that it now promotes against the usage of going Battle Mercy during Valk. my hitbox is already gigantic in this state, without my regen i’m not as comfortable going in to get cheeky picks.

Im gonna be honest, I’m not a fan of these changes. Like, I’d much rather have this than 2.5 second GA, but I dont think these nerfs achieve anything besides making her ult feel bad to use. I don’t really think she needed nerfs to begin with, but I’d much rather just see blue beam nerfed and be done with it.

But I’d take a GA speed nerf or increase Mercy’s hitbox while GAing over this garbage GA cd nerf.
I don’t think the devs or anyone else wants that survival reduction only in valkyrie.
I’d still go after her superjump over GA speed, but if we’re spitballing that it needs to be across the board.
But that’s the thing, when you look at the type of clips getting complained about by Top500 DPS mains. It’s almost always clips of her in Valk.
And if it’s not that, it’s a long 30m beam that’s 1.5x the width of the objective, and just hiding in a corner.
When people actually talk about Mercy, they almost never qualify that as being valk exclusive. The only clip I’ve actually seen of it in action is the Jay3 one but discourse around it is pretty universal. And it isn’t only a T500 problem.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone complain about the valkyrie beam length in years though.
Well let’s go back a bit then, to 4 months ago.
So … If you remove her abilities to leave a fight for a safer place, you should improve her offensive abilities.
As example, giving her an active skill ffor herself ! (between 21 characters, she’s the only one designed to have no self active skill !), and you improve her attack abilities …
Projectile speed from 24m/s to 34m/s
Projectile damage from 17 to 20 (25 in HS)
Nah ? … Mercy is totally defensless and her only way to survive is Guardian Angel !
Actually I specifically didn’t do that.
Her GA target distance is 30m normally, and 60m in Valk.
I think that should stay.
Flying long distances in mostly a straight line isn’t what’s got Top500 DPS mains malding.
Moira … And thats completely dumb … Can litteraly attack for 80m … It’s simple … Even in being at the map roof limits, you can take damage from Moira, in instant damage !
Mercy … Well … You shoot, you have the time to go make a coffee and come back … ! (24m/s …).
In fact, when you are target by a Moira, the only way is GA. Moira doesnt need AIM skill, with that current CD on GA, you’re dead …

Tbh, if they need to add more survival later, it will probably be more of that heal-share passive.
Or something like allowing Mercy GA to target teammates from behind walls.
(Just not actually fly through the wall)
Mercy toggle beam connection is bugged, it no longer works when set to “on”.
I genuinely didn’t know that, and that really should get fixed.

Unless they nerf it to almost zero, it’s not going to be hard to go from 195 damage, to 200 damage.
And I don’t think the devs want that kind of headache right now.
If anything, you would hope they just finally accept that trying to make Sojourn a middle ELO generalist with good winrates, without absolutely stomping the crap out of Top500 and OWL, just isn’t going to work.
Why is this a Mercy problem?
Edit: I know youve suggested many times Sojourn’s rail to not headshot except during ult, but still. It’s the obvious response to that.
