OW2 stopped being about fun

Turn on Xbox. Load OW2. Start up All Roles QP.

Get Support (what a surprise), Nepal. Get 2 people with ‘Top 500’ in their title against me. Great, I’m Gold on all roles. Get rolled on first attack as Sigma dives into the enemy. Solider starts flaming on voice, with shouting voice (or rubbish mic), saying the healers suck. Proceeds to launch into tirade which lasts until we get rolled on second fight. They finally start swearing after I tell him its just QP. I’ve reported him but in nearly 2000 hours I’ve had THREE pop-ups of action being taken. I must have reported hundreds for abusive chat. Check his rank afterwards, he’s currently Silver 5 DPS. Talking like he runs the game.

Turn off Xbox.

People talk like QP is Comp. Every match has a mis-ranked player.
Between the obvious MM issues and people’s attitudes, the game I’ve had so much fun in before has died.

Sounds like a masochistic relationship to me. Sounds like you should take a break from the game for a while.

Brave for playing on console. I don’t see how you guys do it.

Today’s hit the hardest. One game and I just don’t want to play it again (and am not).

We’ll see how I feel tomorrow.

Only ever played on console. With OW2 going F2P, I tried PC but my hands cannot adapt to WASD. Even on console I would say it’s my mechanics that keep my rank down.

I appreciate console lobbies are dark places, but they were bearable pre-OW2.

You got your shackles off, resist the urge to put them on again!

I’ve had much more fun playing Overwatch since I muted all in game chat.
If you want to chat, play with Xbox friends in private chat. That way your not going to hear any toxics trying to ruin your game. I find people like that far too distracting. It’s just not worth listening to there waffle.

if you’re on support, chances are you are the person holding the team back, statistically most games boil down to a support diff.

In any case, if you filed HUNDREDS of reports, you are what we call “trigger happy”. Glad to see that support mains false report people tho.

You know what, I could have helped the diving Sigma a bit more. But on first fight with no comms from them

I’m not going to instinctly go with the solo player diving into the entire enemy team.
The fact the DPS then launched one at me when we all died as a result…

I’ve played nearly 2000 hours and I would say there’s someone who is using language/insults I would not accept said to me in-person in at least 1 in 10 games.

Reporting anyone who is using abusive language is not trigger happy IMO.

That is how they trick you. If you take a break you will not be able to afford the next pay to win hero with your paltry coin count. Only wallet kun will abate your lamenting.

while this is situational advice, and sometimes you should let your team die, below GM the #1 mistake I see support players make is often REFUSING TO WALK UP with the team. Many support players have this mindset “I’m gonna play super safe”, next to a mega HP, in a small room where it’s awkward for flankers to engage. But, the trade-off is often that you can’t help your team as much, which you definitely should. Dying on support isn’t necessarily bad if you did enough for your team to win the teamfight.

Depends what you consider abusive language… I’ve seen support players report for typing “diff”…

I appreciate I might have made the wrong call, and I’m definitely not the world’s best player! After one team fight it hardly qualifies for any sort of toxic blaming though.

I’m talking expletives, swearing and personally-aimed insults (“You are a…” followed by extremely not nice thing).
I find the benchmark what would I find offensive if a stranger said it to me in the street.
Whilst “ez” and “diff” are usually trolling, I wouldn’t say they qualify as ‘abusive’.

My biggest issue is that I know nothing will happen/change based on my experience/reporting: just so long as the publisher gets their money…

It’s not a very pleasant experience. Every other game is either someone smurfing or people throwing to try and squeeze some fun out of a losing match.

ok my bad, apologies.

Well yes indeed their system is broken. If you are vocal, but not toxic per se, but vocal often (“swap this, swap that”, “we don’t need Genji” etc.), you get banned more than the 1x a month Hog player who comes and drops the N word.

I had high hopes that they would change their system with OW2, but alas, it’s the same old.

And join PC lobbies, for which PC players can’t opt-out.

That’s when it stopped being fun. When years of M+KB gaming were codified into a loss by some demographic and their thumbs.

thanks aaron. you’re good at maps, but you’re not it for director.

Maybe you just stopped playing for fun.

I’m still having fun.
