OW2 shouldn't exist

If blizzard actually cared about the player experience, we’d be playing OW1 right now and OW2 would be a massive many month long experimental card. That’s what it should have been.

5v5 should have remained as an experimental card they make many changes to until the large majority of the community actually thinks it’s better than 6v6, and willing to throw it out if the community never liked it but instead we got a week long experimental card that was highly controversial with the community and blizzard was like “YOLO DELETE OVERWATCH WE’RE ALL IN ON 5V5 JUST BECAUSE!”

OW2 just feels like an experimental card but they took our game away. I miss the real overwatch. I miss Jeff too!

If they cared they would just have added pve and fix all the problems people have with comp mode or other modes and just keep adding content.

but I guess money first.

The only common complaint seems to be matchmaking. There really aren’t any other problems. Balance is the best it has been in years and the content drought is finally over.

Oof, no thanks on that one. Played enough of it for 6 years waiting for what we have now

There’s still major balance problems like Zarya should not counter dva as hard as she does when there’s only 1 tank on each team. It adds a risk factor to playing dva at any moment since the opposing tank can just switch to zarya and make you worthless. This has proven to be a big problem for example when I’m defending 3rd payload point playing dva into Rein and then they come back with a surprise Zarya and run the team over.

Sombra exists purely to hard counter ball.

Also Sojourn and Kiriko OP for 3 seasons straight. Ram is still overtuned, there’s still anti tank abilities that shouldn’t exist when there’s only 1 tank (discord, molten core, Mei). They just keep new heroes OP to make more money off new players who are pressured into buying them.

Sadly OW1 was dying and I know it’s hard to believe it did have a dedicated player base but it had grown stagnant and it was just losing out to new releases after new released and honestly it couldn’t compete with more popular titles like Fortnite.

So the only hope blizzard had was to rebrand and create a sequel to help attract people now this is where the problems truly come in and in a sense they could have just kept marketing OW1 and any future updates or announced PvE but again it probably wouldn’t have brought anyone and how 2 is now it’s been a mess and you can’t deny that it has and this product of greed still being alive is just shameful because it speaks volumes on how the triple A gaming market is so bad and how gamers are fueling it. . . OW2 should have died.

Sojourn and Kiriko are fine now. I don’t see Sojourn nearly as much as last season. She’s not a must pick hero anymore.

Dva hard counters Winston. Counters will always exist in this game.

If only I had a time machine

I’d go back to right after Echo launched.

Then release all the new heroes but balanced for 6v6

Then add the new maps and modes and cosmetics…it would’ve been so much better

I mean, Zarya is just F-tier now though

“2” was simply wrong to engage in particularly pointless rework to justify the name. I personally found the second beta of the game SHAMEFUL which “new” included only the testing of JQ and some ow2 maps. zero real testing on things useful only to the community: a rudimentary clan system? a better adaptation of the “find a group” (deleted and never commented)? a more familiar training system for new users? none of that, just feedback for the precious OWL (the world would fall if they didn’t organize it, right? but if there are bubs in the community version…“wait for the next patch in several weeks, and Maybe something will come”.)

Ow2 was the pve, we know it and they know it. but it annoys us that in sacrificing the release of the pve in the third season we still hear them talk about ‘the matchmaking is about to be fixed’, or worse still… zero presence of clan systems that replace the find a group, shameful for a game that has lost its best tool for making groups… and team games.

and do we really have to comment on the absence of an experimetal card which should “safeguard” the consequences of certain proposals (and bugs) directly in the competitive? no, there is only the wisdom to state that each patch is ready to be tackled live on the servers (and comps) because they probably did their testing with a group of “elected” content creators / pro gamers who have access to the private dis ord with the devs. tok tok: who is it? it is the dimension of the live game that asks for confirmation of the presence of bugs. a private space will NEVER be able to clearly identify the consequences of a patch putting a nice final game live, that’s why you need a live bug filter like the PTR and EXC were.

the 5v5? I’m happy with it, but I really want targeted balances specifically for Open queue and arcades, otherwise we just annoyed 80% of the game modes just to balance The only officially allowed tournament mode in A tier (OwL and its 5v5) .

probably oW2 will not fail in the power it promises in developing more complex game modes. but it made itself too ridiculous to pretend to be a 2 when it blatantly wasn’t last October and strove to release when it wasn’t 100% calibrated. they confirm. the same goes for the superficiality with which they treat the shop.

pressure from activision to start cashing in on this project that has been in development for too long (even with related pandemic chaos/scandals/developer flight)? or simple incompetence to maintain the original vision of the game after 6 years? we don’t know but one thing is certain: they rot the credibility of “2” after having abused too much “1” because 2 was a priority. “1” was not the best version of the game, but we are angry that from one waiting room we end up with another one with new features: Work in progress features (old and new), price signs everywhere for the casual game experience collecting… and probably a fatter export business than it deserves when compared to the media interest drought of fps video games.

I’m not 100% convinced.

Kiriko is my fav support and her Suzu might be a tad too good and it’s still not fun getting one shot across the map with a mercy pocket and her mobility is still crazy.

Maybe sojourn isn’t a must pick anymore but kiriko absolutely is she’s still hard meta. Her kit is by miles the best on the support roster. Dva does not hard counter Winston she soft counters him. You can still play Winston into dva and get value. You cannot play dva into zarya and get value. She gets free damage on you and all you can do is run away, she can also delete your ult and get max charge from it. Dvas ult literally just buffs zarya its one of the worst hard counters in the game.

Nobody liked that experimental card, check old posts absolutely nobody liked it and everybody was skeptical about ow2, everyone was like " Im sure they will polish 5v5 for official release or either It will be a failure". I dont know what kind of copium 5v5 knights inhale to unironically believe that the game is in the best state ever and that a majority likes 5v5.

The only thing that shouldn’t exist about OW2 is the concept of OW2 PVP. OW should have simply been updated and OW2 should have been PvE as a full box price game with no catches and no bs.

Blizzard doesn’t give a crap about player experience, except for how that experience translates to revenue.

yawns its already happened, anyone still here at this point is actively supporting Blizzard by playing the game and/or using the forums so can we move on and look forward to PvE, new heroes & maps, etc…?

As if overwatch 2 is??

Overwatch was only dying because of overwatch 2, and overwatch 2 has been nothing but fixing problems since release.

Overwatch 2 has potential, but im sick and tired of the narrative that overwatch 2 was like this necessary thing that needed to exist or else the series would’ve been done for

Unless you’re t500 / higher Gm I don’t think any hero is genuinely “f” tier in the current game.

Some are further behind that others, sure.

But “f” tier?

Wasn’t PVE supposed to be announced by now? OW2 is just a worse version of OW1 that we are forced to play since we can’t play OW1 anymore.

The experimental card actually couldn’t manage new code or assets. Everything their was in game already via workshop stuff. That and well splitting the community like that only means que time would be worse for both, as you don’t have everyone in a single place.

And we wouldn’t have 5v5 balancing for all game modes either, just the basic QP and thats it. And well having new heroes in maps just in their by it’s self well it’s basically hiding content to a lot of casual players, that might not be aware that’s it’s even their.

Currently I have no issues with 5v5 it’s the most balanced OW has been since launch. At the moment nearly every hero is viable, and were getting new content like rather consistently. While que times are rather short.

Like really, it fixed all the major issues of ow1. And now where just adding to reworks, and bug fixes, and new game modes.

stuff isn’t perfect, but it’s not a 5v5 issues.
