OW2 PVE Replayability needs to be great

TL:DR - Add alternate scenarios, routes and different stuff for difficulties
Blizzard, if you want OW2 PVE to do really well and succeed, you need to make it great, you need to give it a reason for replayability.

Current Overwatch’s PVE can be fun for the first couple of times, but can get stale over time, and thats because it is the same thing over and over again.

  • Get from Point A to B
  • Same enemies
  • Same Route
  • Same everything

I want OW2 PVE to succeed, I really do, so here are some ideas I have to give OW2 PVE a reason for replayability.

Alternative Scenarios
Don’t just have one playable scenario for a mission, have different scenarios, let us experience the point of view of other groups.

The Rio De Janeiro Mission is a perfect example of how this can be done.
You can have the original scenario where we play the mission in the viewpoints of Tracer, Reinhardt, Mei and Lucio. However, there should be an alternate scenario where we play as Winston, Brigitte, Mercy and Genji, so we can see what they were up to.

Alternative scenarios help expand the story heavily, it also helps fill out plot-holes in the story, plus we get to experience what those characters are doing, it could even be a different mission for them.

  • Tracer, Lucio, Mei, Reinhardt: Get to Null Sector ship.
  • Winston, Mercy, Brigitte, Genji: Defend a specific area till all the civilians are evacuated.

Alternate Routes
Alternative routes are also a great way to add replayability to the PVE, to make that mission feel different every time we play it.

For example, let’s say in one mission you have three paths, each with their own enemies and challenges, players can either choose them at will or they can be completely random.
This adds to the replayability as players will have a different experience each time.

Enemy A.I. and Difficulty
Enemies are also a way to do replayability, some areas can have the enemies, but don’t always do it for every area.
Spice it up a little and add a new enemy to the mix at random.

Also in terms of difficulty, don’t just increase the amount of damage the enemy does, do things that make that harder difficulty HARDER.
Add new abilities or enemies that are exclusive to that difficulty.

CONCLUSION
I want Overwatch 2 to be great, and I think by following through this, I think it will help with the replayability issue and get lots of people to enjoy it.
I hope you take your time reading this and take my advice to heart.

Also to the community, I want to know your thoughts on how we can make the replayability part of OW2 PVE great.

What are your thoughts?

Don’t quote me on this but I’m pretty sure they said that they where going to do the Brigitte, Mercy, Genji and Winston idea you have!

They have limited time to make a fleshed out story and edit the pvp maps into pve maps.

Your idea sounds cool, but you would probably lose out on a completed story mode and it would have to be updated in chunks/episodes.

Personally, I would just go with your idea since it actually makes more sense for OW2 story mode to be episodic and require updates. Once OW2 releases with all of new heroes, it will have more heroes added in its lifespan. It would make no sense to add in a new hero (not talking about the initial burst of new heroes) and not have a story mission for them.

So for that reason I think OW2 story mode won’t actually be completed and it will actually be released episode by episode.

It makes way more sense to have OW2 to be episodic as it allows the story to flesh out more and for the missions themselves to be worked on more to be enjoyable.

I agree 100%. Give the writers, map editors, artists and devs a chance to catch their breath.

If they try to rush it, it will be so repetitive and you and I both get that :+1:

Hopefully Blizzard notices my post, since I really want to enjoy a story.

One example I can think of that does this sort of thing well is Sea of Thieves with its TallTales, it is often different each time with different islands, puzzles or in the case of the new TallTale: HEART OF FIRE, three entire routes with their own traps.

If its anything like storm rising recycled as bullsht not buying it, that event was so lazy and boring, so if they do really repetitive recycled missions like that imma be really disappointed

Hence the post, I think the best way to handle replayability is to make it different each time, not just in terms of difficulty but scenarios and routes as well, to give it that replayability feel.

(No clue why but every time I make a post, it keeps removing the Quote)

Yea thats what im saying using the same enemys like stormrising was really lazy, there wasnt anythign new n that event, the heroes had the default skin ,no new enemys no new boss fight, super short and boring just 2 short cinematics and thats it, they better have different enemys and objectives than just “push the payload”" go from a to b"

Well, OW1 PvE is very predictable, enemies spawn in certain predictable areas in a predictable sequence. Maybe randomize it even further, or maybe have different versions of mini bosses and major bosses so you never know what to expect?
