OW2 not even nominated for Game of the Year

I mean… Is anyone suprised? It’s hilarious looking back at what shills were saying about the launch and how it would bring back OW.

It did bring back a ton of players… who promptly left due to all the removed content and outrageous monetization.

Was there ever a scenario where this could have happened? I doubt it.

How can it be nominated when it is not even a new game? At the moment its just a patch for OW1

Why would OW2 be nominated when it isn’t even fully out yet?

As much as I enjoy OW2 there’s no way it would win without PvE being out too, that’s the majority of what they’ve worked on the past few years. Also Elden Ring…

And, has an early access game ever won GOTY?

I don’t judge a games fun on whether it wins goty lol.

Am I going mad or is the words “Early Access” legitimately NOWHERE on any of the branding or marketing

Cause as far as the game journalists, fanbases, youtubers etc go… this is the full game. PVE is jus the what, DLC I’d imagine.

Because it released in 2016. This is just a glorified content update poorly marketed as a sequel.

and at that one that removed just as much as it added

A team shooter would never win goty no matter how good it is. Ragnarok or Forbidden West are probably contenders though.

Except OW literally has won it in the past…

“early access begins October 4th”

If you remember, OW2 was going to be a PvE & PvP bundle, PvE is primarily what they’ve been working on the past 3 years, and what we have now was just thrown together in the past year or so because PvE is taking longer than expected, hence the “early access” PvP

They mentioned it at launch a bunch but don’t really high light it any more. PvE will be the official release date. The April trailer announcing the PvP launch did say “Early Access Begins Oct 4th”.

It could also be a Fortnite situation where it was early access until Epic just sorta arbitrarily decided it wasn’t.

You’ve got to be joking me.

Blizz must have paid somebody off, because even at its best, overwatch never deserved that distinction.

Please, early access is an excuse for delaying things. You cant seriously sit there and tell me you think there are substantial pvp changes coming.

Look it up, game of the year in 2016.

They didn’t even nominate Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Sakuretsu!! Chorogon Breath, bro. It’s literally over.

I don’t know what you mean by that…early access is a solution to things being delayed. I didn’t want to keep playing OW1 for another year or two or however long it takes for PvE to come out, I’m glad we got early access PvP

What do you mean? Are the new heroes/balance changes/reworks/who knows what else over the next year not “substantial changes”??

I just came back from doing that very thing, and, to be honest, the only real contender it had that year was Titanfall 2. I firmly believe TF should have taken the spot, but I also seem to recall TF server issues in the beginning.

So basically overwatch beat a bunch of crap games and one good game that had technical difficulties holding it back.

It could have. If the PVE came out. THe servers didn’t fail on launch. The various dumb bugs that didn’t exist in the first game. And the shop wasn’t crap.

So do you think that if lets say 5 new heroes magically come out tomorrow OW2 would be on par with God of War?
