OW2 Mercy's new voicelines... Oof

Mercy in OW1 talks in a soothing tone of voice, like a veteran Emergency Responder reassuring disaster victims that everything’s going to be okay.

Mercy in OW2 has a much squeaker/chirpy voice and delivers most of her lines like a robotic text-to-speech translator. The new lines they’ve given Mercy give off the impression of a gung-ho rookie support on their first real mission (which isn’t very reassuring…).

I prefer the version of Mercy that sounds calmer and more in-control.

Does it sound like a different VA? Could be a placeholder.

I noticed that Orisa sounded different. Less like a friendly, protective robot, and more… serious. I don’t like it.

You should’ve heard mercys original voice actor back in 2016, she was literally mommy material

She’s had a personality shift. It’s a story thing, reflected in plenty of her voice lines too.
“You will answer for what you’ve done” :skull:

Oh, really? I didn’t know that! Interesting…

I would like to see Blizzard incorporate Efi some more. Orisa’s had some changes as we know, would be nice to have some backup of that from a lore standpoint.

This is something I didn’t consider. There are probably a lot of changes related to the story line but we’re totally out of the blue. If we had context then maybe we would appreciate it but I think it comes with the territory of releasing everything so delayed or sporadically.

I think they could be placeholders

Mercy is also toxic, if she gets a kill she tells the player to “lie down”. She’s literally telling other players to sit because she diffed them.

But yea mercy voicelines are pretty obnoxious and it’s like shes practicing to be an announcer or something. There is a huge difference between the inflection of new voicelines compared to the old.

The original voice actor was killed. /sadface

I noticed a lot of the new voice lines kinda sound a bit off and almost out of character. Mercy’s is noticeable from the differentish pitch alone and almost having the same tone always and of course the noticeable new ashe line “ITS GONNA BLOOoow” but I noticed some on sombra as well, they range from sounding a bit off voice wise to just kinda being stupid and lame lol “ we’re loosing and I don’t loose ” not to say ow had amazing god tier writing and all interactions in ow1 were flawless but it’s def a step down from what we had, hoping most of these are just placeholders because they were focusing on gameplay

The voice actor for the Portuguese version of the game, Christiane Louise, was murdered yes. However the English voice actor, Lucie Pohl, is very much alive.

Mmmm some example? Can we hear something? A link?

I don’t think it has anything to do with the actors. It’s the voice directors and the writers. She now says “so soon, Genji?” in annoyed voice when she heals him, really tapping into that dead meme. I’m not looking forward to hearing that every game.

That was VA for Brasil…not the main one.

Ahhhh! Thanks for that.

I think I hate every single new voiceline lol.

Omg thank you I thought someone was murdering mercy VAs out here. I was gonna cry.

Yes it’s entirely aggravating and I didn’t think it would be this annoying but it’s actually frustrating me the entire game lol. She sounds way too high pitched and fake-enthusiastic.

It’s especially egregious when you hear one of her new voicelines after using her old ones, like her “Hello” or “Ult is ready” lines which are still good and soothing.

I genuinely hope they either completely remove all the new chirpy ones and give her back all her old OW1 ones or literally lower the pitch and speed of every new one :skull:

Her new UI sucks too. Idk why they felt the need to fix stuff that wasn’t broken.
