Recently some youtubers got some exclusive patchnotes/overlook at ow2 and when i learned the news, of Junkrat’s traps no longer rooting but slowing, i just… why?! Like if you wanna reduce CC and remove stuns that removes all control from the player that’s fine but steel trap is a pre-set thing that only punishes those not looking where they step and it ROOTS. Unless you are a high mobilty hero, the very thing its supposed to counter, you can still fire back and bring up your defensive tools. Heck put it on a 30 or 40 seconds cooldown if you have to. I don’t give a crap.
Like even with Andy insisting they might nerf mobility heroes, lets face it they will remain highly mobile and without much retaliation without needing to absolutely gutter them in the first place and his trap was excellent at dealing with those in a way that could still be countered by most heroes assuming they look where they walk. If Wrecking ball, doom, tracer or genji can just dash out of it, it defies its point entirely and ends up only a mild inconvenience for the others who might as well just see it and destroy it anyway.
And it even contradicts the philosophy of “we want each individual player to feel more impactful and less reliant on their team” given how the slow traps makes it more rely on the others still being able to make the most of the kill instead of trapping them.
You essentially turned his only utility/counterplay tool into an ability slot filler that wont be able to do the very thing it was purposed to do/counter. So many people are already saying Junkrat cant get above certain ranks no matter how good you are at him and this is how you solve the issue? by making him worse? Like unless you pull a siege and make it a large radius noisy barbed wire that can only be destroyed by melee this is just… I guess im starting to understand the sentiment the others have about their mains’ changes. Whether it be aesthetically or in gameplay.
Oh i’d like to add that Sleep is remaining, this justifies removing root even less given how you still had the ability to defend yourself in this state. If keeping the root trap means having it on a 20 seconds cooldown, especially for how specific trap situations can be, ill god damn take it. Cause otherwise you might just rename it to Diet Pharah.
Honestly knowing the OW team i don’t think they will step back on this one unless the backlash is massive so i’m just gonna hope the new heroes are the most fun i’ve had in years because otherwise this whole thing will NOT be worth it. Because when it comes to the established cast i feel like its only gonna get worse from here. Woopeedoo.
I don’t think i’ve been this mad at a videogame in years honestly. Junkrat is not essentially just going to be damage, damage, damage which is things other heroes does already better but he atleast had the benefit of a direct way to control very high mobility. Fudge.
Lawl, they are turning the game into care bears, god forbid you get punished with death for not being observant.
Rein charge does 225 dmg for example… Better not have 250 hp heroes whine about getting punished, especially since reaper and mei both have an out to charge on reaction
Right? Like outright stuns i get it especially if they came in a flash and as basic ability but jesus christ… I was hoping theyd replace some of the old stuns by roots not gut roots altogheter.
Well if they’re making his Trap a lot weaker then maybe they could give him 2 of them, just like how he has 2 mines. If I remember correctly there was an experimental ages ago where he could place 3 down at once?
Bastion was the start of it… I see a HUGE pattern that is ugly… do you want to know why I think they’re doing this?
They’re going to give us back what they remove… as PvE talents.

Because it would be 100% easier than coming up with and programming new content… soft rework every hero, and give you back what you lose as a talent in PvE.
I doubt they’ll remove the stun from Earthshatter. First of all it’s an ultimate so it’s meant to be powerful, and second , they’ve said they want most of the CC to be on tanks instead of other characters

At the very least they should give it the hack treatment and make it root for 1 second and slow for 2-3. It seems crazy for it to not stop people at all.
