The question is, why would they develop a sequel for a fully multiplayer game thats 100% focused on its competitive component? This a Blizzard game for the love of Jeff, its spanlife should be atleast 5 years if not more.
This is the same as launching Fornite 2 instead of just upgrading the current game with content. Overwatch is a game as a service, it doesnt need PVE, it never did, but thanks to the the minority that cried about it now were getting lame events and lack of content until they finish OW2.
The only logical explanation is Activision claws wanting to milk this franchise, I knew they would eventually interfire with the game. Even Jeff said it himself, they didnt even care about OW1 but the dev team conviced them to merge OW1 and OW2 so the first game wouldnt die.
It’s not a sequel. I’ll agree that using “Overwatch 2” as a working title is a mistake, though, since it makes people assume it is a sequel.
Expanded story content has been one of the most requested features for Overwatch for as long as Overwatch has existed, so they’re fulfilling that request.
Look at it this way. Say you get this player who continually plays for lootboxes but doesn’t care if they win or lose. Well, PVE removes them from your game. They sit there playing PVE all day.
A lot of people who play this game (myself included) play this game primarily for the characters… so I don’t know what exactly you mean by a “minority” persay.
Don’t buy it. I won’t. Not out of petty dislike for the game itself, but because the state of OW now is so much of a train wreck with balancing of characters that I would not financially invest in a “sequel” if the OW1 still has issues.
Are you dense? A decent portion of the player base enjoyed the PvE events… plus the lore of those, the comics & the animated shorts. Now we get both PvE & Lore… PLUS new heroes, maps, modes, updated models & engine for OW1. You don’t want OW2, then don’t buy it… it isn’t being made for you. You still get all the PvP stuff for free.
Its the same, my point stands, why create a dlc thats not going to cost less than $30 with a lameass pve, some new graphics, a new mode and the same heroes that we should got in the meantime?? Its literally just your average season pass/expansion for a game that we already paid
We don’t know the full scope of anything at this point. Assuming, and furthermore trashing, the price and content of a new game is like saying the PS5 is gonna be bad because of how it looks. We have no clue one what the game is going to be and assuming anything is just grounds for being told you’re wrong.
What? We dont get updated models & engine for current OW, thats only for the sequel, they said that the current engine could hold in so they had to move on, i dont even know if the new game modes and maps are going to be available for everyone or just for OW2 players.
Dont even talk to me about the new heroes, thats literally just the same heroes that we should have rn. I dont even remember when was the last time we had a new map.
Funny how Jeff personally requesting the two games to be integrated to avoid alienating most of the playerbase is being used as an argument to prove that OW2 isn’t a sequel when the content it’s providing is more than what we got for OW1. Not to mention that the developer team is like double the size?
