OW2 immediately crashing after launch

I have tried:

  • Updating NVIDIA drivers (version 535 → >570) (RTX 3050 Mobile)
  • Updating Windows
  • SFC /SCANNOW and DISM repair procedures
  • Verifying game files/integrity
  • Clean re-install
  • Using compatibility settings for Overwatch
  • Used both Steam and Battle.net versions
  • Looked up online for solutions

I have boiled it down to the game code. Other games like CS2 run fine. This didn’t happen before, but after the recent updates it now crashes with the following information in event viewer:

Using Avast? Norton? Did you add an exception in Windows Defender for OW and Bnet?

No antivirus are used, windows defender is fully disabled

Are you missing a Windows update for Visual C++? That’s caused some crashes for people who haven’t updated. You have to manually check for it.

Nope, checked it’s up to date and re-downloaded it too, restarted, still same issue unfortunately.

You may want to review your MSInfo (after exporting) and DxDiag to see if either shows which app is blocking the game.

Ran both commands, no problems found anywhere. Not sure what to look for in msinfo32 as it’s just system information.

Once you export the MSInfo, the end of the report is all bugs the system is encountering. They have dates but aren’t in chronological order.
