OW2 Game Integrity Down the Drain

Yup, your experience will be full of players sabotaging gameplay to complete weekly Battlepass objectives for Credits. And you can’t report them for sabotage because they’re only doing what Blizzard is encouraging them to do.

Sadly, that’s exactly what you’ll see. Blizzard has decided to add all these arbitrary, random weekly tasks with zero regard for how it will affect the integrity of the game.

  • Kills from specific locations on a map - Forget ideal positioning or stopping a team/pushing a cart. Got to stay “HERE” to get those kills from the “balcony” for the BP.
  • Play 10 games with heroes NOT in your top 3 - Let’s encourage players to play heroes they might not be good at.
  • Win 10 games queued as ALL ROLES - Welcome to DPS mains playing tanks or support. Or support mains playing tanks. Or tanks playing support. They may suck at the role they get, but they need to win 10 games doing it to complete that BP weekly.

With the thousands of players that will be playing OW2, you’ll most likely have someone doing BP weeklies in most of your matches. And unlike achievements that you can complete whenever over the months/years, these will be time-gated, putting pressure on players to get them complete at the expense of gameplay integrity.

Your best shot at getting to play the game the way it was intended to be played is to play with a 5-stack.

This was one of the very big points on why people didn’t want Role Queue implemented. We saw how that all turned out.

One of the challenges is to kick someone, with Zen, to get an environmental kill. I don’t play Zen but you’ll be damn sure I’ll play him and do what I can to complete that part of the pass. Especially on Ilios.

Man, I could have sworn they said no hero specific challenges.

I remember shills saying that Blizzard wouldn’t include these kinds of challenges. Yet here we are. Another win for the doomers. Not that we like being right.

reminds me of when my teammates would soft throw using melee only to grind combat knife camos back when I used to play COD.

All these challenges you can do within the course of playing the game, if go out your way to compete this, you are playing ow for the wrong reason I’m sorry lol

I don’t think these missions will be all that bad. There are worse things to be upset by.

You have a limited time, so people will go out of their way to complete them.

Maybe if they are running out of time at the end, but most ppl that play regularly will have these completed way before hand

what about someone who ONLY enjoys a specific role and has no experience on other roles? are they wrong to try flexing on a role they suck at to complete challenges?

I don’t see that as the problem.

The real unknown dangerous territory is down the road of season 3-8 going into next year.

Ow is not that deep a game and the devs have to decide make that money by making that new hero broke.

Because they have had to look at the data of other games to see the OPs have the whales make it rain.

I don’t see how greed won’t influence the balance when this game is so sell sell sell driven.

How would the team even pitch to their bosses balanced to slightly underwhelming new heroes?

That to me is going to be the bigger headache than stat farm coins chasing.

You don’t have to do all the challenges, there are plenty of challenges, to where you can get XP from the things you want

These challenges can be completed in QP right? Why would you assume a large chunk of the playerbase would go into comp to grind challenges instead of grinding competitive tiers?

You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think there will be enough players will be doing this routinely every week. It it wasn’t time-gated, okay, maybe you just grab them as you play. But being time-gated and the ONLY way in-game to earn coins… so yeah.

what if a lot of the weekly challenges (that give more xp or OW coins) involves flexing? lots of ppl play for rewards and that’s not necessarily a wrong reason to play. it’s blizzard’s fault for making in game rewards so team sabotaging.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but dont you get XP from just playing matches? So challenges are just if you want to boost XP, unless your some kind of cosmetic farmer I doubt a lot of ppl will be even caring about the challenges, I know I wont, I’ll be too busy farming newbies in competitive LOL

QP doesn’t mean joke/mess around mode. Just because someone is playing QP doesn’t mean they want to waste their time in a match full of people goofing off. The idea that “It’s QP, who cares about winning” is ridiculous. There’s a lot of people I want to play with that are not on the same tier as me (or me not on the same tier as them), thus we don’t (or can’t) play Comp together. Doesn’t mean we don’t want to win.

Oh i would know. I only really play QP. I’m saying that the objectives in question would be less detrimental in QP because you can play in a way that’s orientated around completing challenges without putting your team’s SR in jeopardy.

Plus, these challenges don’t even look like things you’d do over 1-2 games. I don’t think they’re designed for people to just join matches and ignore the objective of winning. It’s more like something that’s earned over time as you play.

What you’re describing is wrong and is gameplay sabotage if they actively chose to ignore the final objective of trying to win the game. That being said, you don’t need to do any of the above to complete the weekly challenges.

Doesn’t really require you to sacrifice your positioning. You could just passively earn this by playing multiple matches in the same map.

This isn’t a bad thing. If you don’t play new heroes in QP, how will you ever learn and master them?

This already exists and is the easiest thing ever… I did 20 matches today queued in All Roles and I mostly got to play Tank.

I’m sorry but QP is kind of a joke, I only use it to warm up for comp. This is why there is an unranked mode now which will be more for the ppl actually trying. QP prolly will have a majority of the challenge grinders as it should, I know ppl that play competitive could give less of a care about challenges lol

The Battlepass has a “Weekly Challenges” list that rewards the cash shop currency. People will be grinding it out to earn 500 credits so that when the next Battlepass comes out they will can grab it for like half off. Completing these is the only way to earn that cash shop currency in the game.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the weekly challenges more generic? I feel like it’s the daily’s that are more specific
