[OW2] Each tank should have a counter to sleep dart

Rein, Orisa, Sigma, and Winston have counterplay elements. Why is this not the case for Ball, Doom, and Hog?

After seeing Danteh and the Houston Outlaws get decimated by the SF Shock with DF sleeping in half of the engagements, I think it makes sense to at least let his power block deflect cc. It still leaves room for Ana to land darts from other angles.

As it is, he’s left just wide open without any room for counterplay.

Also, perhaps letting Ball’s and Roadhog’s E block it out as well.

It only makes sense rather than creating a dichotomy among tanks.

It’s almost as if Ana’s kit is a mess, that helped make tanking beyond miserable in the first place.

I hate sleep darts & anti-nade. I have to spent a lot of time sleeping or being naded. I get it i need to sleep but i sleep like 6-7 hrs per day so why do i have sleep in the game.

For OW2 i except something better but i over-estimated Blizz ability to balance.

Literally just remove Sleep Dart. If ANY CC should have been removed from the game, it should have been Sleep Dart. How it’s a CC that somehow managed to avoid the great pruning, just proves Blizzard’s bias for the character, and how they love to fuel the 35% pickrate for Ana, instead of actually fixing her.

By far Ana is the most toxic hero to play against, especially as a tank. Preventing people from being healed, the longest, by far, CC in the game.

I’m still shocked when I get slept on powerblock and then I’m like “oh wait right”

It really doesn’t make any “realistic” sense either. The gauntlet is not a part of his skin. It should provide cc immunity.

but sleep dart did 1 damage instead of 5, think of the ana mains

blizzard wont do it because “aNa sKiLl” or some random excuse

Their decisions do not seem to be based on facts and logic sometimes. It’s very hard to always be correct. But this looks like a no-brainer.

I think Df,Hammond & Hog should be countered by sleep… it makes a lot of sense by their design.

Ana’s kit overall is a massive counter to Hog overall with sleep for hook, anti for healing and range for countering. So to me it feels like she was designed to counter him anyways.

And by design Hammond & Doomfist should be countered as they move predictably and play up close where Ana would usually have the easiest time landing a sleep.

What sleep should receive however is a change to make it less oppressive.
Want it to be an escape tool for Ana? No problem. But consider maybe reducing the wake up duration so targets would almost instantly get up when hit. Can also be effective maybe reducing its speed to at range enemies wouldn’t be hit as quick.
Another option is making it so the further the target the less sleep it receives.

But I do think that even with the long duration. 5 seconds stun with infinite range is way too much…

This sounds nice in OW1, because there’s another tank to make up for the weaknesses. In OW2, there isn’t.

If they were to remove sleep altogether, we’d have Genji being a worse headache.
Further, Geoff seems to be adamant about keeping sleep dart.

I think the most organic way to deal with it then is to offer counterplay for all tanks, since they are so easy to neutralize with Ana.

Otherwise, we are gonna have forums complaining about tank one-tricks causing inevitable losses.

I’m sure somebody here will know this but how long is the minimum stun? It’s really obnoxious that even if they break it immediately you still have to sit though the fall down and get back up animations and that brief period where you can’t do anything. It seems way too long.

That’s a big problem with ow2 overall, but it’s not only a problem with Ana…
As a result of removing a tank, any hero that can outplay that tank would get more value.
Which is one of the many reasons dive is gonna be a super meta.

If you think Ana is a problem, what about Bastion,Zenyatta,Junkrat and/or Reaper that can completely dominate certain tanks?

Remember tanks also lost a lot of protection, and about 1/2 of them don’t have any major mobility so snipers are also a strong option.

Either way, I really think that at least in pro play, Ana wouldn’t be such a strong pick as she’s not the best against dive…

I suspect something like Hammond-Tracer-Sombra-Lucio-Moira/Brig.

The former are real tanks, the latter are fat dps labeled as tanks for those who enjoy Q priority passes. in order to be a tank you should provide stuff for the team that makes you one

Anecdotal experience, also it would be way too OP combined with that insane mobility, damage and CC all in 1. Doom can wreak havoc and destroy entire teams in the beta and it’s disgusting playing against him

You can cancel the ability when used at a wrong time

Make Hog CC-immune while he’s taking a breather

Make Rein’s steadfast apply to all CC

Allow Zarya to cleanse herself from Sleep and stuns with bubble

Same with Orisa’s fortify

Allow D.va to activate her ult while sleeping/stunned

These minor changes to the tanks would improve their gameplay experience drastically

Make Power Block block all CC from the front

Man all of these are just terrible ideas, you really just want to make tanks easier to play and harder to punish.

Oh yeah. Tanks are weak currently so they need some buffs and most of these wouldn’t really effect the heroes as the longest regular stuns are 0.8s max so it would only really make Ana and Earthshatter less oppressive, which they very much are. After all Ana is the most hated hero in the game for tanks and Earthshatter is what forced the devs to make Rein weak so we could get away from the meta where you had to mirror Rein comps just to counter Earthshatter with his barrier

Or just delete Ana from the game. Or more specifically delete Sleep Dart and Antinade’s 100% anti-aspect. That would be even more preferable for all the tank players in the game

No offense but that’s not very healthy; Totally agree, don’t need Ana messing with our internal clocks.
