Usually when I quit playing OW2 and I “Exit” back to my desktop, I notice my CPU fan is running fast, even minutes after quitting. I check my Task Manager and I see that OW2 is running in the background but theres no window open. What causes this? I do have my video display set to “Borderless Window”. Could that be part of the issue?
Are you using a NVIDIA or AMD GPU?
AMD video card, RX 6500 XT.
I have the same problem. The only workaround I’ve found so far, is going into the task manager and shutting down the (nine instances of) Battlenet launcher.

Huh, interesting. I have my launcher setting it closes during launching. We seem to have opposite but similar issues 
Yes, it started happening after the recent patch. The problem is that right on that day, during patching time, I switched out my GPU – also AMD – and updated the drivers, so it could be the patch, or the driver issue, or a combination of both.

OW is getting angy when you quit! It want to blow up your PC!
OW is like those clingy, hugable GFs that just cant say goodbye! 
If you’re proficient with cmd you can quickly Windows + R, “cmd”, then type “taskkill /f /im Overwatch.exe”
Eh, im not too good at cmd.
I did a test today, and OW2 did actually close after about 3-4mins. Perhaps I just need to be more patient
