OW2 crashing constantly "Your rendering device is lost!"

So. my overwatch 2 game continuously crashes, and gives me the same error. over. and over.

“Your rendering device is lost! - Closing application!”

I use an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U and I really don’t know what can be done to fix this. I really want to play, and I don’t want to resort to waiting for NVidia to add it to the games they emulate. I’ve closed every background process, there are no updates for my driver or system. This is getting really frustrating because I’m so close to winning and then I crash… ToT if anyone can PLEASE help me it would be great. I wanna go back to playing overwatch ASAP (not literally asap. just fast.)

I have the same problem. 3060ti gpu and ryzen 5 3600xt so it’s not a hardware issue. No overclock and no temperature issues. I don’t have crashes in any other game. It’s upsetting because the crash often happens immediately upon joining a game so every single time I rank up my progress is undone by this issue.
The idea that background apps must be closed while playing is also ridiculous because it’s not an issue that occurs in any other games. but I try it and still have the issue. I only play competitive so if I can’t fix the issue I am just going to drop the game tbh. I had it back in Ow1 and upgraded my gpu to fix the problem but I can’t afford to do that right now and I’m happy with my current card.

Now I am locked out of comp for an hour due to these crashes. This is seriously unacceptable, I want to enjoy this game but it’s not worth the stress when this nonsense happens every 3 games. I’m really upset because I managed to solve this in OW1 and now this “upgrade” has made the game unplayable for me yet again. Doesn’t happen in any other game so there is really no excuse. A complete joke.

yeah same me, its a when battle start or finished… has game same error…

I had a similar problem. I disabled AMD FSR 1.0 and now is very very rare for me.

I had this problem back in overwatch 1 and weirdly enough the fix was to disable your xmp profile in your bios. I’m having that problem right now and am testing the solution as we speak.

Same problem, in my case does not output any error, just stop rending and game freeze forever.

idk what they have done in this “upgrade” from OW1 to OW2, i just know they had break rendering system for many people.

Same problem here, i have an AMD Ryzen and the game goes black screen with the same error

No progress has been posted on this yet? I’m getting suspended for entire days each time this happens now. I can’t relaunch the game in time to recommit to the match… 3/4 of my losses are crashes. Rendering device has been lost… Been trying to figure this out for days. I’ll play a couple quick plays to make sure I can play. Then I’ll play and win a couple comp matches and surely enough I’ll randomly get a loss and suspension for simply playing to see whether my troubleshooting has done anything.
Have changed driver versions multiple times. Have tried different overclocking settings. Have tried different window display options. Different resolutions. etc etc etc…

How can I even determine whether I can play safely without playing to find out if I have made progress?

I have resolved all crashes for all games on my Nvidia 3090 by GPU undervolting.

here is how:

maybe for 10 and 20 series it will work too
but if you don’t have Nvidia graphic card, then chances are you have other issue :frowning:
