Dear blizzard, you have GOT to stop this people that are two ranks apart can be in the same game nonsense; it literally ruins games having people that far apart allowed to group.if overwatch2 does not fix this comp is as it is right now, not something to bother with.
I think bronze to gold is okay, but things get iffy with gold to diamond being able to queue.
If gold was broken into 3 tiers it would make more sense.
You shouldn’t be putting 1400 players in with 2400 players
- This basically never happens btw. Just giving an extreme 3am on a Tuesday kinda example.
No. There’s massive difference in skill between bronze and gold.
I’m bronze tank and ended up in a gold game. It didn’t go well. I felt bad for my team.
For context, a gold friend of mine is a washed up diamond.
Ow2 is going to be hilarious with noobs placed in gold, vs former diamonds…
I never really played ranked as DPS.
I’ve learned how to aim very well.
I’m going into OW2 as plat DPS, everyone muted, clicking heads. ![]()
I’m actually gold dps.
Played one dps game in 2 years, after 20 minute queue. Couple of plats on each team, so guessing high gold.
Went 48-12 kd and won.
Playing dps in gold Helluva lot easier than trying to tank in bronze.
If you’re gold on dps I think you should be able to get out of bronze on tank by playing like a DPS and just going for as many elims as possible.
Bronze to gold is actually worse. Potential 2499 SR diff vs. max 1499 between gold - diamond
Yeah. The SR number is bigger. But the skill gap is bigger from gold to diamond.
Either way. 1000sr is fine for stacks.
Also not true, although I know what you are trying to say. It is easier for the average person to improve from bronze to gold skill than it is to go from gold to diamond. But when it comes to matchmaking only current skill level matters. When I was in bronze I didn’t even know what my abilities were for. And I have been from gold to diamond and back several times but never back to bronze once I hit gold the first time.
You are like the people who say the difference between 4.1k and 4.5k is the same as bronze to 3900. Like no, it’s not. A 4100 player actually stands a chance to win an occasional 1v1 dual against a 4500.
What they are really trying to say is that further improvement gets exponentially more difficult the better you are, which is true.
Anyway, 1000 SR is ridiculous and a joke to competitive.
What you were saying was all logical and had reason (even if I disagree to some extent). Then you said this and ruined it… Lol
Care to explain why you feel that way?
1000 SR is equal to 2 skill tiers or 1/5 of the entire ladder. Given the old data from Jeff, a potential difference of someone near the 50th percentile of players and the 95th percentile if we are talking about high gold grouping with high diamond. Why should that be allowed in ranked?
Say I’m in a duo. I’m 2000sr, my sexy partner is 3000.
That means the lobby will be 2500sr. So it’s all fair. I’m the weak link, balancing out his slightly higher skill. All fair.
Now let’s say you lock in Rein, your 3k partner locks in Mercy. Your 2500 team expects you to push through the choke but you never do because you’re 2000 on a good day. So lose the game. Nobody has fun including you and your duo. Maybe a fair match on paper but not in practice.
I hate being in those kind of games. Granted, you still get them even when everyone is the same SR because of how messed up the matchmaking is. But Blizzard should at least pretend they care about ranked integrity.
Now this is all irrelevant. I could just as easily pick hog and be afk.
Those games have nothing to do with SR, matching, stacks or anything like that. They just happen from time to time.
Easy fix is to match roles similarly, even stacks vs. randoms
I think queues even worse then.
For dps there’s several brain dead characters that can crap out damage with very little thought.
Eg Torb, Sym, Junkrat.
All of the tanks take more mechanical skill.
When I still played comp, was getting a nice 80% wr playing tank as dps, so you’re right. Just harder for me mechanically.
How is matchmaking going to work in OW2?
pretty sure I’ve been in games with plat and bronze I think. I just remember when matchmaker screwed me over real bad the first time is if you do too well. Like 50:3 K:D and it takes forever to match you up even if it says 2 minutes for tank, you’re screwed. That’s when my mediocre gold got paired with an entire team of bronzes vs gold and plat.
