But it wont, because the devs want a game where a few heroes dominate and hero/comp diversity is bad.
If bans existed in OW, it would remove the wool over the playerbase that Widow and Tracer are fine.
Just like in Rivals where Hawkeye and Hela are insanely overpowered and make every match not only unfair but also unfun and so get banned, the ability to ban in OW would not only improve comp diversity but also point directly at what is too strong (and what isnt).
The idea of high ranks without Tracer/Widow would actually make me want to play it again, ngl
I donāt think we need bans. Because then some of us would justā¦ Never get to play our mains because whatever knuckleheads got mercād by one or who consider it cancer would instaban it. Iād never get to play Hoggert or Mango. Because Iām one of maybe ten people who like them.
Yes, some characters are inherently (or just simply by how the game has been patched and changed, not necessarily inherently) cancer. Doomfist is one of the two characters I actually call cancer, despite being a Mauga main. Yes yes, insert laughing here. But the point is that while I would rather Fisty be absolute garbage or just not exist, his mainsā¦ Doā¦ Deserve someā¦ Oh God I canātā¦ Kind of happinessā¦
I think I just threw up in my mouth typing that. Eurgh.
You cant ban a whole role, not that it would be productive to anything. I fully predict that if players were allowed to ban, then the most banned heroes would be DPS heroes.
If player bans were allowed, I predict that Widow and Tracer would be the most banned heroes above Diamond. Below that, Soldier and Ashe.
No, I remember hero bans from OW1. I know there was less supports, than now, but I felt like I was out of options every single time. When one of your mains is taken and other banned and you main 3 out of 5 heroes (which was the whole rooster back than I think) - you are screwed.
Now I know there is much more options in support rooster and I also main more heroes, but itĀ“s stil something that would caused me not to play for the week or two as back than. Specialy, when game feels much more like brawl and countering stuff to survive is essential for support.
again? the game never had a real banning system, it had blizzardās god awful attempt at instituting something similar with their āban of the weekā which was completely contrived and arbitrary
There were no hero bans in playerās hands in OW1. What Blizz did was them choosing heroes and maps and banning them.
But also your general idea that players would ban out an entire role is just weird. No one is going to waste a ban slot just to ban out Moira or most supports, much less in high ranks.
Despite all the weirdos that hate supports, people who actually play the game arent likeā¦ caustically hateful of supports. Specially when its group banning.
First, I said high ranks and pro-play. I was a masters player. I stopped playing comp because I am tired of Blizzā constant meta enforcing and micromanaging of who is allowed to be good in the DPS role. My main has been reduced to a TP bot because god forbid a DPS that isnt a popular hitscanflanker is not trash.
Second, everything trickles down. One of the reasons why people left OW1 in droves is that their heroes were endlessly nerfed for pro-play or high ranks āācrimesāā (aka being used against meta threats). So many bad changes have been done to make status quo abusers in high ranks and pro-play safer, while the playerbase gets gaslighted.
Yes, and I dont see any reason why it would be bad.
Players are toxic cowards. They leave any game, that wonĀ“t go by their plans or if someone picks something they hate - my friend is a Widow main. I can see him having a hard time to ever play his main, if this was a thing.
