OW could be absent from future PlayStation consoles

The Microsoft deal with Sony only permitted Call of Duty to stay on PlayStation. Since really, that is the only game series Sony actually cares about.

However in regards to other Activision Blizzard games, Microsoft could remove or not put them on future PlayStation consoles without repercussions. So games like Crash Bandicoot, Diablo and of course Overwatch.

Now I say future PlayStation consoles because removing them on the PS4 and PS5 would not make any sense. As it would just be a loss of income for already published games. Related to that, I would also argue not putting Activision Blizzard games on the PS6 (which will be a thing) and PS++ would also be a loss of income. As well as unfair to PlayStation players who might prefer playing on PS over XBox or PC.

Overall I understand why Microsoft would do this, but it would still not be consumer friendly.

Microsoft always tried to argue their exclusivity practices are not as egregious as Sony’s, yet this would just be as bad if not worse compared to them.

Haven’t owned a Sony (or really any) console since the PS3, but man I’m starting to feel a bit bad for them here. Console wars really don’t seem to be going their way.

Tbh it’s not just playstation owners who will be hurt.

Less competition hurts everyone. Prices will keep going up and quality will stay stagnated at best. The FTC not being able to step in was pretty unfortunate.

Consoles wars are the only wars I actually want to keep going.

We’re seeing the end stages of what happens when capitalism is allowed to go unchecked in an industry and adopt anti-competition strategies.

Happens in every industry eventually.

And?
They spend billion yeah probably they wont release next game on sony hardware.

Ow2 is there for 3 to 7 years
Diablo 4 too

They’ll probably change many things, OW2 was there to put pve in the game they just announce it will never happen so it’s just like OW1 become f2p

Microsoft beg for pve licence for years, they mostly always fail
With blizzard they buy many of the biggest game licence in the world and they will probably work on pve if they finally want on next gen console (ps6) to finally be able to compete with sony.

What do you mean? Sony has proven itself the King of great titles. It’s really simple, the competition exists. If you want A LOT of games, get an Xbox. If you want GOOD games, get a PlayStation. More and more gamers tend to have both.

I just wish people stepped in before it was too late for once TT

At least we have FF16 and that game is possibly my Game of the Year

Mate, this game is almost in maintenance mode thanks to Bobbi who cut all of the resources for his wallet. They lied for 4 years about PVE, they just changed business model to increase profit, it’s in a huge decline everywhere from Twitch to Google search statistics and the creaters left leaving there none capable of the same quality. I mean, we can’t blame Sony if they doesn’t care about OW, because none care about OW today, even Blizzard. Just few old OW1 fans and a lot of F2P games addicted kids.

There is only one think that Sony did not consider tho, the incredibly broken Blizzard matchmaking would make people constantly throwing their controllers on the wall, so they would see a huge sales surge of them.

They will be fine. They own Bungie among other things.

Hey…xbox has some good games…though microsoft tends to let them be published everywhere evenutally, so yeah

Uh, they are winning the console war, pretty hard in fact. Microsoft literally admitted as much in court.

What happens is that, through corporate mergers and buyouts, an industry becomes dominated by only a few major powers. They tend to dictate acceptable pricing and business practices because they own the most mainstream ips and they hire more developers, have better advertising, own the platforms to decide what they’ll allow on it, etc.

It’s like how tech is pretty much dominated by Google, Amazon, and Meta right now. Sure, there are still other companies, but a majority of the stuff people use are owned or influenced by those three companies. Because of that, innovation is less likely because it isn’t “financially safe”. They’re less likely to take risks on new things and more likely to just stick with what works.

You can see this in the movie industry too. Think of how many sequels and spinoffs we have now to previously groundbreaking ips. Now think of how many new ips have cropped up to change the industry recently. Not many.

Sequels and spinoffs are safe. They know people like those ips, so they make more of it to the exclusion taking risks on innovation. Big studios can do this because they have the best advertising, promotion, they own the streaming services, they own all the IPs, and they have the money for big budget productions. Just look at Disney.

So that’s what I mean. Each merger is moving us closer to an industry dominated by a few titans.

That’s funny considering the EU regulator said the Microsoft-Abk is a pro-competitive deal.
Also the Judge Corley arrived at the same thought. She said the deal will be bad for Sony, but good for gamers.

Both UK and EU regulators had their concerns about a possible monopoly in the cloud market, not console market where Microsoft is far from a monopoly there.

Microsoft is addressing the situation with the UK-CMA and they’ll soon approve the merger with some remedies about the cloud market.

FTC had a weak case since the start, they focused their efforts on how the merger would just hurt Sony, and had extremely questionable arguments. You can watch the court hearing held with the Judge Corley and see how ridiculous the FTC’s arguments were.

You can blame Sony for that.

The original deal that Microsoft proposed to Sony was for Call of Duty and all other Activision-Blizzard titles to be made for Playstation for a minimum of 10 years. And it would have been likely, in 2033, that Microsoft and Sony would have renewed the deal.

But Sony bullishly refused to accept the deal, and instead focused all their efforts on getting the FTC to kill the merger. Now that’s failed and Sony has been forced to sign the deal that is worse for Playstation users.

All that being said, Microsoft isn’t going to pull current games that are on Playstation from their service. So Overwatch 2 isn’t going anywhere. I doubt there will be an Overwatch 3, but if there is? Then that will depend on whether or not Blizzard Entertainment wants to make the game available to Playstation users.

Be stupid for Microsoft to drop Sony out of Overwatch for :moneybag: reasons. PlayStation still has Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Microsoft seems more interested in PC side than the Console Wars anymore which is kinda only between Sony and Nintendo.

Exactly, idk what Sony would expect from Microsoft after delaying the merger for so long lol

good. why? sony blacklisted astro gaming / logitech c40 controller. so perfect karma. bitter sony employees monitor user messages. saw all the c40 hype. became insecure. reneged on astro c40 controller compatibility. thousands of hours of research and development obsolete due to forced artificial incompatibility with PS5. in other words, sony, out of bitterness, blocked c40 controller from being recognized by PS5 so that you buy their self destructing, stick drift, experimental controller contraptions. withdrawing compatibility out of insecure bitterness = anti-consumer practices. imgur.com/a/niK6t5v imgur.com/gallery/VHNE88y

No sony is winning the war, they sell far more consoles than xbox and have more and better exclusives. Cod will still be there too

Losing ow wouldnt even be a big deal

Horizon and Ghost of tsushima are far better and more popular than any xbox exclusive
