OW community has gotten crazy closed minded

Like it’s actually just pathetic how outraged people are about this draft system before they’ve played one match of it.

The “New thing bad” mentality in this community has just gotten so infuriating over the years. It’s like blizzard botched the launch of OW2 and ever since then people have just reflexively cried and moaned about literally every new feature that came out the only thing that differentiates it is if it’s a really great feature then only 25% of the playerbase will cry about it rather than 50%

Like I wouldn’t mind it if it was just people complaining on the internet but it’s actually starting to effect the game like the new map last season may as well not have existed because it started to get fewer than 2 votes per match (even against other flashpoint maps) on the 2nd day of the season before almost anyone played it enough to form a reasonable opinion (other than I lost on it therefore its bad). And I near guarantee this draft feature gets rolled back before next weekend and it will primarily be because of complaints from people who0 have played fewer than 3 games with it enabled

It’s objectively a horrendous idea.

Hope that helps!

I’m surprised it’s getting as much hate as it is….especially when it seems like people already want to limit the game as much possible in order to improve their odds of victory (hero bans and map voting)….this is just another example

If anything people should be praising the latest version of stripped down overwatch

Do I need to play a match with my favourie heroes being locked out because the enemy team picked them first to know that I won’t like having my favourite heroes locked out because the enemy picked them first?

you couldn’t have proven my point more succinctly

I haven’t played a single match of hero bans so I can’t really say but I get the impression that the only reason they’re bad is because they did too much ban shielding for ana. But trust me if mercy ever becomes strong enough to become a common ban target you will see a sudden wave of people begging to remove hero bans

map voting though there are too many legit terrible maps in the game like Nepal and Antarctic Peninsula that I’m glad the feature exists even though it erases a few I like such as Throne of Anubis

Yes

Dang, that’s crazy bro.

Next you’ll tell me that you can’t know you won’t like using a cactus for toilet paper until you’ve tried using a cactus as toilet paper…

I’ve played matches as people other than my favorite hero and enjoyed it. I think it’s possible

So have I. I enjoy playing other heroes. I have a decently deep hero pool that I’m comfy with.

Know what I don’t enjoy?

Having the hero I want to play locked out because the enemy team picked it first.

Not just that, though. Now it’s going to be a race for whoever can pick the most OP heroes first and deny the enemy team that value twice over. Not only can they not pick them for the mirror, but they have to go against the OP heroes.

that is why it is a snake style draft. You might get the first pick, but then they get two more picks right away to even things out. And you also get to decide what order your team drafts in so there’s even more strategy. The drafting is part of the gameplay

I’d rather the gameplay be part of the gameplay.

Can’t wait for entire matches come down to whoever picks tank second.

I mean, sometimes its really easy to tell when you wont like an idea. Like if they announced that all game modes were now mystery heroes, I dont think it takes a genius to realize this is a bad idea without having tried it.

Cause it’s a terrible idea.

A good portion of the Overwatch community has always been closed minded

Have you seen their reaction to every rework ever, maps, modes, 5v5, s9 hitbox/hp changes, perks, stadium, and every change ever made?

The OW community just loves to complain lol. Well, part of the community loves to.

Well let’s not pretend some of those reactions are unjustified lol

People hate every new character too.

People just have to learn to play against their counters, Instead of hoping they never have to go against them.

It stops being hard once you learn how to play the matchup

It takes long enough to get into a Stadium match as it is, drafting is even worse than map/hero bans on that score. And like, I’ll try it, I’m open to magically changing my mind…but come on, we all already know draft systems well and can reasonably see all the issues it’s going to cause and/or exacerbate in this specific case.

Stadium was sold to players as a more casual competitive experience that was specifically main/one-trick friendly and not so bound to the meta or counters. Draft system is going to change that. It’s gonna be all about the counter meta, and never-mind getting to play your favorite hero, you might well often not even be able to get your third choice as DPS/Support.

Playing D.Va into Zarya has entered the chat.

That’s hard no matter how good you are in the matchup.

Yeah, this is like a full 180 flip on the ideology of Stadium. I hate it.

A big part of the problem is the hero pool really can’t support a system like this. It just doesn’t have the critical mass. I think a lot of people are rightfully pointing out that hardcounters are going to be even more exacerbated with this system and it’s already a bit of a problem.

I think being able to mirror is really important.

Well yeah, it’s her counter pick. But in stadium, she has the beam reduction perk.

Again, once you learn how to play into your counter the game gets x10 easier
