6v6 and open-queue being back is the best part about this update.

The worst part is the OW team intentionally bringing back the most poorly made version of the game in order to show it off.

We get it, you guys don’t want 6v6. But your community does, just give it back to us with the version of the game we have. There is no excuse why you can’t.

I mean, they’re still going to run a 6v6 experiment using Overwatch 2.

but for me, even the launch version of Overwatch 1 is better.

Normally I would agree, but the amount of quality-of-life missing from the characters we do have is rough.

It might be because I always treated Overwatch as my casual FPS game but to me even unbalanced chaos is better.

I’d be perfectly happy if this stayed as a permanent unranked mode that rotated through the seasons and they left OW2 to be the tryhard ranked mode where everything has 8 years of being “balanced”.

I disagree. It seems far more likely that their goal is to:

  1. Stress test 6v6. Running 6v6 on the OW2 engine lets them see where the most pressing performance concerns come from, and resolve them as part of their 6v6 work.
  2. They likely want to get feedback and engagement numbers from various parts of OW history to figure out which things people liked most. This can give them guidance on where to invest in the game, and whether its worth revisiting certain older game mechanics.

Classic is separate from the serious tests for the main game. It’s just a nostalgia event.

They did an stream interview today and they really didn’t sound remotely like saboteurs in that. Indeed, they seemed pretty self aware that the community going to want to keep 6v6 to at least some degree and they were even talking in-depth about how balancing for both formats could work.

I can Aurora. I love your music. But they brought back the most crappiest, messiest possible version of OW1, and I think it’s deliberated.

They brought back the launch version. They are doing Moth Meta Mercy and GOATs versions in the future and even pre-launch version. What exactly were they supposed to bring back? The specific month and patch of the 5 year long game that you preferred the most? lol.

I reinstalled OW2 just to play this event. I will uninstall again after it is over.

It’s deliberate all right - but not in the way you think. They’re appealing to nostalgia to get people’s attention, try to get them to return to OW, take a bit of the wind out of Rivals’ sails, and prepare for the upcoming 6v6 tests.

They’re not running some weird psy ops to rile people up. Why would they do that.

I hate this version of Overwatch so much.
I hate 5v5 and I prefer it to Overwatch Classic, that’s how much fun I’m not having in it.

How else do you suggest they introduce what 6v6 was like to players who have not ever played overwatch 1 ?
