First weekend of season 9 you got a massive spike in players.
Steam charts showed an increase from 30.2k the Friday before season 9 to 41.3k an over 25 percent jump in concurrent players in just one week!
And it’s only been going up ever since.
3 days before season 10 on the last Friday of the season we got a player count of 46.3k. So it went up and kept going up showing a strong consistent upwards trend throughout the entire season.
I know some people are desperate for Overwatch 2 to be some kind of a failure, but if player numbers keep going up apparently facts continue to not care about their feelings.
Yes, PVE was a stupid decision and cost them a lot of money. But that does not mean the PVP is not drawing in players.
Long term PVP is going to be a cashcow for them. In just a few days people are going to be logging in to play the new Venture character which although is bland visually and character wise imho has a super fun gameplay loop.
Next weekend should really have kids drawing up mad whiteboard charts trying to explain that spike in concurrent player count as well.
And some people are desperate for OW2 to be seen as successful (to the point of spamming forums with new threads trying to convince people), in spite of how many real complaints are out there.
You are not allowed to say that OW2 is doing fine here. Its forbidden! OW is a terrible game, the MM is bad, everything they do it bad, its forbidden to call Venture “she” and 6v6 should come back. Thats the only things that can be discussed here currently. Now go, before people report you for being positive
I just showed you player count is flat. Earlier in this thread you claimed people are ‘flooding in’. The game isn’t dying, but it is just another generic FPS anymore. It won’t die, but is is nothing more than average (as the data shows). OW will keep going as yet another mid FPS for years. No more, no less.
No amount of you spamming the forums with misleading information changes that reality.
I heavily prefer if it is successful so that they can have an incentive to improve the experience. And thus far, they have been doing a decent job. Outside of that disgusting patch to make it so that even people with physical disabilities could play Tracer or Widowmaker. I have nothing against accessibility, but when you do it to heroes that are fundamentally broken when people are proficient at the hero, or even cheaters, it leads to a joke of an experience. They need nerfs to compensate for how easy they are to play at this point.
You would think people who love and enjoy the game would come here to talk about it, but it’s just full of people who hate the game and want to complain about it all the time lol
And then player number drops over time and it will make posts about here in other direction…
Anyway, not like anything of that kind matters if the game make money it will be stay alive, the main thing important in game development those days.
