OW 2 error code BLIZOWCLI00000005

For some reason when I select certain heroes or when their model are loaded in my game crashes with the error code: BLIZOWCLI00000005.

I have disabled all things on start up and this error still appears. I dont know if this is just because the game isnt fully fleshed out yet or if it is because of something on my end.

The crash report also says to use this code when asking about the issue: B3F13C61-93D4-4FC4-B1C9-20A1FFF32D61

A similar error occurred when choosing a character in the OW2 beta.
Not always, I managed to complete a couple of games, but very often the game crashes at the stage of choosing a hero.

I am getting the same error except its every 2nd game. I can play 1 full game most of the times then it crashes mid 2nd game
this is the code for the blizzard report:BEE764BB-C008-4E6B-A614-37FD9318B23F

I have the same bug, even I made a topic about my problem

I have this same issue.

I’m running on a PC with the following specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with Radeon Vega Graphics 3.60Hz
  • 8GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce 1650 Graphics Card
  • Have Overwatch installed on my SSD

Not sure what the problem is. It says to close any overlay and I did close my NVIDIA GeForce Overlay. I even closed all other background game launchers like League of Legends and Blitz so that it would not affect any processes to run OW2.

I was able to queue into my first quick play game, then after a minute or two, my game crashed with this same error message.

I did see I have to update and install my game drivers so I’m hoping this fixes it. I’ll edit this to see if it was the solution.

EDIT: Yes, this seemed to have fixed my issue. I updated my game drivers with NVIDIA because there was an update. Hope this also helps others fix the issue!

EDIT #2: Okay, so it also crashed on me again. I wonder if it has something to do with just having to load all the models of each hero into your game? I was playing Mercy the whole time and I was able to play her without the crash. But when I went DVa, it crashed on me again.

I will try too then, didnt update the last NVIDIA update so i hope it will work after

In my case updating drivers didn’t help me(

Updating the drivers didn’t help.

If it helps and you also have NVIDIA, go to your NVIDIA GeForce Experience’s Settings and turn the In-Game Overlay OFF.

Try it but after 3 games, error come back…

I have added Overwatch 2 as an exception to my firewall, disabled all startup software and closed all programs while playing. Crashing happens randomly, though one time it did seem like it happened on character switch nearly instantaneously but that could likely be a coincidence. I’ve had the crash happen on the main menu screen.

I seem to have found the fix for me.

The fix was to uninstall the BetterDiscord extension for discord. I don’t know if this will work for everyone but so far it seems to be working for me.

Here is a link to a video on how to uninstall BetterDiscord: How To Uninstall BetterDiscord (Completely Uninstall From PC) - YouTube

Do tell me if this fixes it for you. Hope this helps.

I have never had this extension installed. So I don’t think that’s the problem. Also, the crash of the game may not occur immediately; for example, I noticed that the game is more stable when I play the role of support.

p.s. There was an update for beta, so far I haven’t tested the game, but in another topic with this error, people write that their departures have stopped. I’ll test it - I’ll write, maybe they fixed it.
p.p.s. yes, the update fixed the problem! The game stopped crashing.
