what if we went back?
on that note what if we nerfed healing to OW classic levels?
what if we removed all the immoralities?
what if we nerfed some of the powercrept heroes tunned to chunk through all the healing in the game?
what if it was YOUR job to keep- YOURself alive through proper positioning, rather then the copious amounts of freely dealt out mobility and sustain that allows you to keep standing in your greedy position?
just a thought.

sounds like a lotta support would be would of a job. then where do they go? dps?
Yeah support would have to support so ?
Whats wrong with that ?
Is it that normal to be able to deal as much damage as a dps, while also healing like crazy and having the best utility tools and mobility in the game ?
Supports mains have fled from reality in ow2.
I realize it everytime i play support, it feels like a breeze.
Tanks are afraid of you, dps struggle to dive you (between diving a ana or a soldier, the genji will have an easier time on the soldier even if he has a good aim as an example.
Supports are basically gods in ow2 , sometimes i even question the utility of dps role, i am sure a tram of 4 supports and one tank would work as good at this point.
so your call to action is… nerf supports ability to support
instead of thier ability to fight, ja?
I find the the DPS roster has enormous strategic depth to it that’s lost much of the time because most DPS players play the most vanilla characters imaginable that have very little utility and end up in a sustain vs dps armistice race.
Genji/Tracer provide next to little tangible utility while I’ll go and play heroes like PHarah, Venture, and Sombra who can all flank AND provide other utility. Pharah has amazing high ground pressure and can concussion blast players off the map. Venture can CC people and infiltrate for short spurts into tight choke points. Sombra offers health pack denial and hack utility.
Junkratto me has stragetic value in enclosed map sections. I die, I pick up junkrat, boom. We manage to get through a tough choke point because people are afraid of being blown up or mine jostles them around.
In the mean time everyone picks all of these bland damage centric only heroes with next to not utliity like tracer, genji, ashe, widowmaker, s76, etc. You can pull out some symmetra strats on control points for first rush to point. You pull can pull out Mei for some aggressive tanks.
The creativity out of most DPS players to use the roster to its fullest extend I feel is just wasted most of the time.

are we going to…nvm why do i bother
I doubt it could happen.
Release OW indeed was very popular and 2016 fortnite. But most people were fps fans and only played dps. A tiny bit of people played support/tank.
Then, it didn’t look good to the devs who wanted to make a first person PoV WoW. They rapidly changed it into a sustain-heavy game like WoW arena, most fps fans left the game, lost popularity by a huge margin. But it didn’t matter for them.
I mean, they should have known well enough this direction was not for the majority. They just favored their original idea than the popularity.

Which is honestly perfectly fine. Many people aren’t 1trick pony video game players who do nothing except 1 game forever. They play variety and there is very clearly an audience for OW pvp in its current state.
The gaming scene got flooded with effectively battle royale games for a number of years trying to cash in on the event. My favorite was black desert online which is a strictly MMORPG game from like 2014 go and create its own spinoff battle royale based upon its characters.
Pearl Abyss was like lets just cash in on this trend. Overall, I think OW has done perfectly fine being the monopoly of its kind. It pretty much sunk Paladins which is its closest direct rival. The latest in a long time will be marvels and it’ll be interesting to see how market share goes.
OW has had a surprising ability to survive just about every wrong thing with it from steam review bombing to a failure of its PvE delivery, but its still kicking.
No.
Hp bars go down, burst damage goes down, Healing returns to max 60hps outside of ults and self health regen is removed from everyone.
Support will still be needed to keep their teams alive and to assist with kills. Nothing changes for support players, apart from needing to peel for each other even more actively.
Sure, but then we also need to remove DF, Ball, Sombra and likely the entire cast after and including Ana, remove raid-boss tanks and make them normal - so, 6v6 and… before you know it, you’re back in OG.
You can’t just go with “let’s remove that” when the entire game is now designed around those things. Whether or not it is a better game than OG is irrelevant (albeit after OWC I strongly believe modern “do everything, at the same time” designs were the problem).
This take is literally unhinged
You forget that Overwatch is an example of unfair competition, they constantly sabotaged their competitors, like when they brought forward the date of the Overwatch beta just to overshadow the launch of Battleborn, or when it was discovered that Blizzard tried to buy several news pages to speak well of their games, they completely ignore the company’s controversies, and that these same pages were dedicated to denigrating or ignoring the games of their competitors, or the constant lies in advertising, all this ended up causing many developers to decide to stop releasing games of this genre for years.
It’s not a great achievement to overshadow a game made by a company that barely has 100 employees, when Blizzard has over 13,000 employees, and even less when they also sabotaged that game in every possible way.
by releasing your own at a inconvinient time for competettive studios? Thats not foul.
I’d consider what nintendo does to palworld foul with renewed sub Patents. But I don’t want to derail.
Advertising your game years ahead is also not really foul. How did blizz sabotage these studios?
all they did imho was be a competition thats not easy to beat.
But maybe my fanboy glasses are to strong?
In the case of Battleborn it was not a coincidence, they changed the date of the beta on purpose to take into account the launch of Battleborn.
For starters, they pushed the lie that the game was a copy of Overwatch, even though Paladin was announced in 2012, 2 years before Overwatch was announced. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paladins_(video_game)
)The websites they are trying to buy are the same ones that spread those false accusations, even though those same websites in 2012 had already published reports talking about the game when it was announced and also published news stories talking about the leaks with all of the game’s content that surfaced before Overwatch was announced, and they conveniently forgot about those news stories that they themselves wrote, and ignored that the same studio that made Paladins had already made a very similar game in 2009 called Global Agenda that already had all of the things that Paladins is being accused of supposedly copying from Blizzard after Overwatch was released, and which Blizzard most likely took inspiration from to create Overwatch.(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtAUw42M9Ro
)
Tenced, the company that practically owned Activision and Blizzard until Microsoft bought it, had Paladins and all of the studio’s other games completely banned in several Asian countries. They did the same thing with every other game in this genre that came out after Overwatch was released, under the excuse that those games were too bloody even though most of these games were more cartoonish than Overwatch
or the change of name to the genre, these types of games were previously called Class-Based Shooter, but Blizzard’s advertising made it seem like they had invented a new genre, when in reality they just changed the name of an already existing genre to try to overshadow the competition by pretending that they didn’t exist, to the point that many people in this community still think that there have never been games similar to Overwatch
Both burst damage and burst healing would have to be axed, as well as mitigation being restored to the tank. But yeah, if they did that it would be good.
Make the game sustain focused all around.
IMO the problem is that “supporting” is now defined by healing output. In overwatch classic it was defined by thier utility, (teleporter/turret slows, damage boost, speed boost)
We need more play defining utility and less raw heals imo.
