Overwatch.exe - Bad Image Error status 0xc0000428

The following error pops up several hundred times in one session. Game is unresponsive while message is displayed.

Overwatch.exe - Bad Image

C:\Program Files\Audinate\Shared Files\mdnsNSP.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000428.

Audinate is a software vendor of audio over IP via Dante and AES67 protocols. I’m using Dante Virtual Soundcard. It presents a standard WDM Windows multimedia device. It is not ASIO. It was fully compatible with Overwatch Classic and all Windows software to date.

Support suggested I purchase all new audio equipment as audio is not a guaranteed feature of Overwatch. Absolutely ridiculous response. It’s a WDM standard device.

Unresolved with repair of Overwatch installation, re-installation of audio drivers, re-installation of Dante software, and Windows Update.

Windows 10 current non-insider.

I had to disable any dante WDM devices, reset my soundcard WDM I/O devices as default, and then end any dante/audinate processes still running in task manager and it stopped the error. Unlucky if you rely on using DVS or Via as your WDM devices I guess - never caused a problem in OW1.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I do rely on Dante. Has never caused issue with any software.

mdnsNSP.dll suggests some incompatibility with Bonjour mDNS service. Can’t imagine why.

Still unresolved in today’s Overwatch update 2.1.0.1 b106128.

I have the same problem
What does it mean?
