Overwatch Team Voice Chat Bug using Asus Xonar DGX sound card

After the latest patch I can no longer hear teammates talking in the team voice chat using Asus Xonar DGX soundcard. I can talk in voice chat and people can hear me, but I can’t hear them. None of the typical solutions helped, I have no parental control on, checked my Windows sound settings, Overwatch sound settings, etc. I contacted live support and tried to solve the problem. I connected my headset directly to the motherboard’s own sound card as adviced by the support assistant and it worked. I could now hear people in voice chat.

I’m using the latest (but old, 2015) drivers on the Asus Xonar DGX sound card (+ HyperX Cloud headset) and every other application works just fine with that, including VoIP like Discord. The Overwatch game sounds also work fine.

It seems that after the latest Overwatch patch, the game doesn’t recognize my headset as a voice chat output device. In the settings when I hover my mouse over the Voice Chat Device option, it recognizes my microphone as an input device just fine, but the output device is just a long line of numbers and characters. When I connect my headset to the motherboard’s own sound card, the game recognizes the headset as a voice chat output device.

Is anyone else experiencing this bug and could it be an issue in the latest patch?

Yes, I have the same issue with the Xonar DSX sound card after the latest patch. A workaround was suggested in another thread, going into Speaker properties - Spatial sound and toggling the 7.1 checkbox. this solves it for the game that you are in but you have to do it each time you enter voice chat.

Clearly, there is some sort of compatibility issue with the Xonar DSX drivers for the latest patch…

Good to know that I’m not alone with the problem! Toggling 7.1 sound every time you enter the game doesn’t seem like a long term solution, hopefully Blizzard fixes this problem in the next patch…

I have this issue too. No fix for you guys yet?

I have the ASUS Xonar D2 ($200 version) which very similar to your cards. I have had this issue from time to time when they send a major patch resetting some of my settings. What your in-game sound menu settings should be is

Voice Chat Devices - Default Devices
Playback Devices - Default

If either of these were changed to the Hardware Sound Devices (i.e. ASUS Xonar) then I would either lose my capability to hear teammates, or talk to them.

This isnt really a driver issue. The one Issue i continuously have every time something updates either Overwatch or Discord, it will break my Microphone and I will have to reboot my computer to get the driver to re-recognize any input on my microphone.
