Overwatch Team is LAZY!

In relation to what exactly?

Most people’s reference point of this is based on only the PvP elements shown to us so far in a test match (so an incomplete picture of what has actually been done) a completely uneducated guess of the resources it takes to make that, an uneducated guess of what they’ve done but that they haven’t shown us and what it takes to make that and an uneducated guess of what resources Blizzard actually have allocated to this game.

If you have full visibility and expert knowledge of all of these things, then feel free to call them lazy.

If you don’t then, I think the most sensible thing is to say that it hasn’t been managed well so it is behind schedule.

If you compare the development by other companies, “Blizzard” is indeed very lazy, new title not withstanding.

It is not just an incomplete picture. It is a picture that has been barely started.

Also not sure where I got this but apparently they have been told to stop any work on new stuff and focusing on polishing the stuff that the already have.

Yes, but that decision itself is in essence, “lazy”, because it’s unwilling to cede that OW 1 still deserves support… using OW 2 as a defacto excuse for not putting in dev time on the current game. If OW had been say eight years old, I could see it, they essentially yanked production after barely 2.5 years…

I don’t need new heroes, I don’t need new maps.

ALL I WANT ARE PLAY THE MAPS THAT EXISTS WITH FAIR BALANCING

Drop 2CP out of Arcade / Quickplay and back in Comp.
And start finally a balancing.

Genji is unplayable, his blade need 3 hits ti kill anything.

So balance him as many players already suggested:

DMG to 30
Blade not Nanoable
Blade dmg increase to 125 or 150
(and or maybe 8sec)

Can you please explain this further?

You are conflating two things. The management that make these decisions do not actually make the game so the amount of work for them does not change.

You can call it a bad decision but calling people lazy because of this still makes zero logical sense.

Let me put it in different terms. There are two buildings which have managed rentals.

A manager has $1000 dollars for cleaning. They make the decision that they will spend all the $1000 dollars for cleaning as this will give them the most revenue for new tenants despite the negative impact of not cleaning the other building on the tenants.

The manager has made a choice based on the resources they have.

Is this a bad choice, probably. Is it an immoral choice, absolutely. Is the cleaner lazy for it going to the building they are not paid to go to instead of going home to see their family? Well obviously not.

I don’t agree with the decision they have made but I also disagree with calling employees lazy.

Look at Riot for example, or other studios. Blizz from day one was lazy on the game.

Nah they play final fantasy, they know which is better.

I mean can you give an example of why Riot is not lazy and Blizzard is?

Managing something poorly does not equal laziness so I’m curious as to your logic.

I hope you are not referring to regular content updates in Riot’s free to play model as evidence of not being lazy as that is simply a strategic decision on a revenue model and necessary for the company to actually survive.

Again, a management choice - nothing to do with employee laziness.

There are no new characters for 2 years, they are trying to keep the game alive with events only, and the community still defending blizzard. it really doesn’t make sense, overwatch 2 isn’t even a new game

I don’t think anyone is defending Blizzard here - it’s simply correcting where people should direct their frustration.

You should criticize the decision that has been made that has lead to a content drought, not the work ethic of the employees following that decision.

It seems people don’t understand that the two are separate things are conflating them through their own lack of understanding.

im speaking generally. some people defending blizzard and say we shouldn’t be pressured to make it not like cyberpunk and they really think overwatch 2 is a new game. Overwach have potential but unfortunately it is wasted. at this point even hi-re manages the paladins better

This is pretty inexcusable for a MULTI billion dollar company. Stop making excuses.

These people sat on one of the best releases and mismanaged it, what killed the game first was bad balance, directionless approach lack of content is something that happened much later.

They killed the game long before that taking years to fix issues that would be hotpatched in other games.

Grow up

Mandatory 20 characters

This is the same amount of thought process that blizzard put in while doing balance changes.

So you support the ill informed mindset of the baby rage OP?

We are referring to “Blizzard” the team which the thread is titled.

Unwillingness to maintain a game that was wildly successful for the first 2+ years of it’s existence is cheap and lazy in my book.

You are also conflating laziness and competence but also laziness and outcomes.

Overwatch was mismanaged, doesn’t mean the employees were lazy. In my opinion, the core problem is poor decision making.

Just because you don’t like an outcome, doesn’t mean the people doing it we’re lazy.

I actually think the game is balanced as balanced as it can be and no matter what happens, with the number of permutations that Overwatch has, people will always complain.

I also think it’s quite disgraceful that the console community is unmoderated, but as an adult, I can see that it’s not laziness by an employee, console has been deprioritized. I don’t like it and it’s the chief reason I’ve stopped playing Overwatch but let’s call a spade a spade.

Do you know what “?” means?

I think you need to look at the waves of output from various companies right now producing online FPS and compare. I mean literally no one who knows this thinks Blizzard is doing this right. They are stuck on an old box mentality that no longer applies, and their dev team was woefully understaffed. I suggest you do some reading to educate yourself on this question and I think you will agree. I know literally every notable commentator in the industry has pointed this out.

You are hung up on a literal interpretation of “laziness” and applying it solely to the devs; it is a general assessment of Blizzard as a whole in their handling of OW. the “devs” in this case are taken to include the sum of all personnel, but the underlying problem is the management. That Geoff Goodman still has a job there is part and parcel why OW is such a mess, they can’t even balance their own game, and can’t see where they make constant bad decisions because they live in a their own bubble.
