As stated on the title, overwatch takes over 80% of both CPU and GPU.

I’ve tried with different settings (Medium,High and Ultra) and they still give the same results.
I’ve tried setting the FPS lock to 144 (my monitor refresh-rate) but the results are still the same.
No other game comes close to this.
This doesn’t interfere with gameplay as I tend to get around 200 FPS (maybe drop to low 120-ish in an intense fight but nothing else), but I’m getting concerned about my hardware’s longevity.
How can I fix this?
Edit: the only component that’s watercooled is the CPU.
Edit2: Corrected some numbers
Wait, I have a 1080 and a i7-8700K and I get around 160 FPS without a fight happening, how are your frames so high even with a worse CPU?

You got gpu-z? Whats the clock speed? What about for the cpu? You might be in a power savings mode.
Feels Bad hoping for the best.
Nah just checked and I’m in ‘‘Balanced’’ mode.
can you run userbenchmark. com and post your results?
Normally you want your GPU to be at 99% at all times (while playing) and your CPU to have some breathing room. That means that the GPU is being fully utilized and your CPU can keep up with it, while being able to run other programs without affecting your gaming performance too much.
Your GPU is where it should be, it’s completely fine, the only “problem” is that the CPU has only a tiny bit of a breathing room. But it has some, while your GPU at 99%. It just shows that you have a close to perfect CPU/GPU combo for pure gaming. At least for this title on your settings. You won’t be able to do much else comfortably while playing, like streaming, without adjusting some settings, but other than that, it’s all fine.
If you’re worried about the longevity, just make sure that the temperatures are fine.
But why is my setup still at 100% even in medium/high? A GTX 1080 should be enough to handle Overwatch at medium/high, right?
Need clock speeds and not your Windows power mode setting (should be in high performance btw)
A 1080 won’t be maxed out at 1080p and applying a frame cap would prevent that anyway.
CPU base is 3.80 GHz but it goes up to (turbos?) 4.17 GHz.
And I forgot to mention that I game on one 1080p monitor. But I have to mention that I have another monitor aswell that I don’t use for gaming because it’s 60 Hz. Could that second monitor affect the performance of my setup?
Do you mind downloading gpu-z and giving me the “Gpu Core Clock” number while you’re in game so I can figure out if your card is in an idle state while gaming?
Thought you had a 7700k.(4C 8T) ~90%+ utilization on the cpu is normal. Gpu shouldn’t be getting hit as hard w a frame cap. You are playing at 1080p yes? Check and see if you have DSR enabled in the nvidia control panel.
