it shouldn’t be?, it is all there, the abandonment of the OW1 game for years to work on something that was promised for years that was never delivered in the end. the late to the party F2P swap with a crappy BP and monitization, skin prices, a broken matchmaker that is almost always a sTOMP one side or the other, constantly and not they are forcing you to stay in those games or risk suspension…even in backfill, dogcrap hero balance that gets worse and worse, along with their ‘‘reworks’’ that are garbage(hog/sombra esp.), what else… oh the removal of QOL features like LFG. oh and worst of all taking away a tank to make it 5v5 cause they couldnt figure out double shield and wanted the F2P dps players to have a faster queue time. Tanks are either garbage or busted(usually when a new one dropps they overbuff them to sell their crap BPs), tanking gets all the blame for everything, all the CC, all the pressure, while the supports have WAAAYY too much healing and too many immortalities. Game is in a trash state and should die until the quality improves, sorry some of us have standards.

Makes you wonder just how much of PvE campaign have been scrapped since they’ve been working on OW2 from 2019 and the content drought started to happen between 2020 - 2022. I’m sure they have so much PvE content that’s half way done or even completed. But we’ll never get to see them because PvE is no longer part of their plan anymore.

But I’ve also heard that half of the Overwatch developers were forced to help with Diablo development during that time. So I wonder if they were under-staffed during OW2 development.

Either that or they focused too much on PvE portion of OW2, only to get told by the upper management later on to cancel the project because they’ve realised that it isn’t going to be profitable.

Whatever the case, the PvP side of OW2 has been quite underwhelming especially when it was initially released. OW2’s PvP just felt like a rushed product considering there was so many issues with the balancing that they hadn’t even touched at the time. They’re finally starting to fix the balancing around 5v5 now. But it shouldn’t have taken them this long considering the fact that they’ve been working on OW2 since 2020.

I absolutely love when people post links instead of using their own words.

It’s just so knowledgeable and informed.

Anyway, data suggests the game is very much alive and has plateaued at late-2018 to late-2018 numbers.

Video’s decent, I’d say even too positive about what 5v5 brought to the game. What certain people won’t like is how it’s another reminder of how low OW2 has fallen from OW1.

if they had done something bold and entirely changed their balance philosophy to do away with the idea that every superhero (that is what they are) should have a kryptonite you can choose in spawn to autowin (that is what this is), then there is no reason it should continue to feel like torture in such a convoluted and alienating way as to be a turn off and plateau. it should be soaring. but its vision is narrow and they are taking very small steps when 5v5 needed sweeping changes and the end of hard countering entirely.

I just realized Mauga is basically the tank enemy from Archives in that Italian mission from 2018. Thinking about all the content they scrap or recycle for the next few years is mind boggling.

I don’t doubt less people play OW now. The game is just awful to play especially if you are solo queue. For S8 I can play maybe 1-2 QP games or 1 rank game in solo and is more then enough for me to ALT+F4 the game and feel disgusted. With dive being so dominant now, at least on asian servers, you basically get insta-deleted and snowball with ult disadvantage. Winston, tracer, sombra, genji, zen and ana there is literally not much you can do lol.

I played this game a lot and my distain for dive makes me want to quit then I can only imagine how much worst it is for the casual player.

Okay, so I watched the video from start to finish.

And yeah, the game isn’t dying. So many people try to claim that, but it just isn’t and he provides ZERO evidence beyond a few comments from people who played Overwatch 1 to support his claim that it is dying.

So this is just another clickbait piece of nonsense.

22k players on steam at 1AM on a Saturday. Likely over 50k players overall just on pc. Combined all other platforms and I’d say it’s probably around 100k concurrent users. yeah…ded game…

They WANT it to be a dead game not that it is a dead game.

Things that aren’t happening:

OW2 “dying”.
Players leaving en-masse with ghosttown queues

Things that did happen:
OW1s loyal fanbase and reputation died/left

The game has been changed to a soulless husk of itself and lives only to grind money out of free to players.

OW1 = Reyes: Has ideals and morals, willing to do whatever is possible to stick to them and deliver results.

OW2 = Reaper: Only cares about results, willing to step over the bodies of former supporters to get them.

Honestly I would be beyond shocked if Steam represented more than 10% of the OW2 player base, let alone nearly half.
