I play on PS4 and for the past 2 days the game has been acting weird. I would use an ability and it won’t work or ill start lagging but my internet is fine on everything else except for OW. Just a few hours ago I queued up for a comp match. It said I found one but didn’t put me into any game (it just said “rejoin match”) and it eventually just gave up and took like 50 SR with it and also suspended me which sucks cuz I was goin off in that session. I was wondering if PS4 servers were being weird or if it was my ISP messing with me but it wasnt my internet connection cuz again, OW was the only thing messing up. I dc’d at about 1 PM Tuesday june 5th. Its probably my ISP cuz we have Comcast and they’re an awful company but they’re also our only option and maybe others are reporting this issue. Also, as a side note, sometimes i’ll leave a quickplay match and get an 11 game xp penalty even if it was my first leave in a long while. It doesn’t even warn me anymore so I never know when I’ll just have to suck it up and accept the triple sniper comp. I find the system to be very inconsistent and I think it would be fixed if you properly warned people to stop leaving. Another thing about the servers is that if you leave a quick play game (and don’t end up with a penalty) and queue up for QP again it usually just puts you back into the same lobby you left (usually resulting in an xp penalty btw). Its very annoying and it would be nice if it put the match you just left at the bottom of the queue so you don’t join it again. One more thing, sometimes lll be playing comp deathmatch (which shouldn’t be a comp gamemode) and itll tell me to keep moving or itll kick me for inactivity even though im clearly stomping around the map. I think its a controller problem but it’s very weird

No, I doubt it’s an ISP thing. I and many other players have been reporting crazy latency as of late as well. And in my case Overwatch is the only game it’s occurring in. It’s possible that this is something on Blizzard’s end.
It is definitely on Blizzard’s end. I don’t have this latency issue on any other game. The only device my internet is connected to is my PS4. No other game lags, just Overwatch and it started 2 days ago. All my friends are also experiencing the same issues.
Blizzard will report both in their support site and on Twitter if there are any outstanding issues from their end. However most connection issues are often user or ISP specific. Connection tests such as WinMTR tests can help identify each of your guy’s specific issues.
WinMTR instructions:
- Download WinMTR from http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/ (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
- Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
- Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
- Run the WinMTR.exe
- Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.
note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78 - Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
- Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
- Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between:
